NRL Supercoach Final Word | Round 2 trades and skippers


<p>Welcome back to another fast and furious year of rugby league folks! </p>



<p>Supercoach scores were up across the board in round 1, which has caused quite a panicky-looking mist to quickly set in over the heads of the community as we try to stop ourselves from frantically tearing our teams apart to get in high ceiling players as soon as possible. </p>



<p>Turbo Irvo knocked out 1370 to sit around 13,000th overall, not a bad start at all. </p>



<p>I’ve managed to get most things right to start, mainly in part to the fact that basically every cheapie imaginable scored well. </p>

<p>There will be no shortage of cash generation to start the season, this we can say for sure. </p>



<p>What’s more is that every position has these viable cheapies, which should allow different team structures to prosper and not confine us all to the same cookie-cutter looking team to start, as we’ve sometimes seen in years gone by. </p>



<p>Onto the meat. Straight away, we can see that scores are reminiscent of 2021 with good teams belting the cover off bad teams, will it continue? </p>



<p>Who knows, however, we have to play what we see until it changes. </p>



<p>Eyes up Supercoach per se. </p>

<p><strong>Kalyn Ponga</strong> and <strong>Tom Trbojevic</strong> quickly come into the fray as major buy prospects after both knocked out 100+ scores with trademark ease. </p>



<p>Ponga has the slight edge for me &#8211; 50 receipts in round 1 with end of set kicking + goal kicking, it&#8217;s very hard to go wrong. </p>



<p>Turbo, we can probably run the gauntlet on until after Manly&#8217;s bye in round 4. </p>



<p><strong>Sua Faalogo</strong> looked outstanding as the third option at fullback, and I&#8217;m super glad to have started with him. </p>



<p>However, he won’t get 5 LBAs every week, and Melbourne won&#8217;t score 50 every week either, so some caution definitely needs to be advised, however he certainly passed the eye test and is a definite buy for non-owners. </p>



<p><strong>Keano Kini </strong>was decent enough in a badly beaten side and should probably be given another week before deciding on who to upgrade to. </p>



<p>At the same time, I really can’t find many reasons to knock people who want to sell him straight to Turbo or KP. </p>

<p><strong>Harry Grant </strong>and <strong>Blayke Brailey</strong> were the standout players at hooker, which was totally expected given their price and pedigree. </p>



<p>Both are massive buys heading into round 2 if you don’t own either. </p>



<p>Hooker is simply not the position to muck around with these days, and I would borderline prioritise getting these guys over cash-generating cheapies just so you don’t fall too far behind in total pts. </p>



<p>2RF and FRF played out fairly as expected. </p>



<p>60-80pts seems to be what you can expect from the guns on a weekly basis. </p>

<p>There’s a huge array to choose from and big potential to target high ceiling guys with good upcoming draws. </p>



<p>I won’t name every buyable player in these positions because there are simply too many, but the obvious eye catchers were <strong>Toby and Ryan Couchman</strong>, as well as <strong>Trey Mooney, Helium Luki, Taniela Paseka</strong>, and <strong>Noah Martin</strong>, who are all well underpriced for what they are going to output. </p>



<p>In the halves, <strong>Nicho Hynes</strong> and <strong>Braydon Trindall</strong> put on a show as the Sharks trounced the Titans. </p>



<p>I’m certainly not rushing to buy them for a matchup against a Penrith team that held the Broncos to nil last week. </p>



<p>More appetising is <strong>Cody Walker</strong>, who seemingly turned back the clock to knock out a classy-looking ton in wet conditions. </p>



<p>A 40/20 and 4 forced dropouts would be extremely pleasing to see for owners and would have non-owners (myself included) scratching their heads as to why they didn’t buy him for 399k. </p>

<p>CTW proved you pretty much get what you pay for in this position these days. <strong>Latrell, Kiraz, Farnworth, RTS</strong>.. the list goes on. </p>



<p>All expensive. All scored well. </p>



<p>The highly owned <strong>Kayal Iro</strong> was one of the only exceptions after scoring a modest 44, basically all in base. </p>



<p>If you own, don’t panic, the tries will come. </p>



<p><strong>Moses Leo</strong> is the obvious top pick for cheapie in CTW if you’re intent on downgrading a gun or mid-ranger who didn’t quite pass the eye test.</p>



<p>Good luck this week, and remember, don’t pull your punches if you feel the need to throw them. </p>



<p>Supercoach moves at breakneck speeds these days, and if you decide to save trades to have another look, you might already be falling behind the 8-ball. </p>
