NBA Supercoach | Week 19: Buy, Hold & Sell

Everyone’s favourite time of the week where I pretend to know what’s going to happen in the next 7 days of NBA Supercoach based on player form, injury news, upcoming schedules and an intimate knowledge of 2010’s basketball. Is that all relevant? Only time will tell.&nbsp;



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">BUY</h3>



Someone from Philly?&nbsp;



What shocking timing for the 76ers to have a 5-game week! 



Their top-3 fantasy players are all injured to varying degrees, between out for the whole week (Embiid) or missing at least 1-2 games (Maxey &amp; Edgecombe). 



Depending on where you’re up to in your Supercoach season, there could still be value in taking a flyer on one of the other Philly players for the week, with Quentin Grimes &amp; Kelly Oubre both putting up solid numbers in the couple of games since Edgecombe’s injury. 



As ever, check the injury report prior to Week 19 lockout and go from there.

Kyle Filipowski (UTA, C/PF)



How does 15 points / 11 rebounds / 4.5 assists &amp; 2.5 stocks per game sound? 



That was Filipowski’s last week, resulting in 118 SuperCoach points, good enough for a top 10 finish. 



Now, what if I said you can get all that for the bargain price of $10.28M (at time of writing)? 



The 2nd-year big man out of Duke has seen his minutes tick up since Utah officially went the full-tank, seeing close to 30 mins a night now, and with 4 games coming up this week, the time is right to get Jazzy with it. 



Kawhi Leonard (LAC, SF/PF)



You’re not losing your marbles, Kawhi absolutely was in the Buy column last week, too. 



And guess what? He finished with 131 SC points, good enough for a top 4 spot overall. 



However, with his ownership sitting at a criminally low 5% (!) I feel more than justified in running it back for Week 19, especially with the Clippers heading into another 4-game week. 28 points / 7 rebounds / 3 assists / 2 steals per game over the last fortnight, just in case you needed a refresher.

Donovan Mitchell (CLE, PG/SG)



We had Spida as a sell last week due to both scheduling and injury problems, and it looks like a few days off to reflect has worked wonders with Mitchell stepping back in today with 30 / 7 / 5 against Boston, albeit in a loss. 



Cleveland plays 4 games this upcoming week, and while they’re sitting relatively comfortably in 4th place at the moment, there’s enough competition behind Detroit and Boston in the East that there should be no taking the foot off the gas down the stretch for the Cavs, meaning Donovan will continue to play as much as possible.



Reed Sheppard (HOU, PG/SG)



Shout out to another Rocket, firstly, with Amen Thompson racking up a top 3 SC score for Week 18 (139 points). 



But let&#8217;s chat Reed Sheppard, with the former Supercoach golden boy coming good again over recent weeks after a real dip in form from about Week 10. 



Since Week 16, though, he’s returned 71, 86, and now 101 points, which puts him well and truly back on the radar with his &lt;$8M price tag. 



Be aware that Houston only has the 3 games this week, but they also go into 4 next week, so if you’re a manager who likes to plan ahead, then Sheppard is one for the list.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">HOLD</h3>



Tyrese Maxey (PHI, PG/SG)



Back-to-back hold appearances for Tyrese, and I take full responsibility for it. 



He should have been an all-caps, bold letter BUY this week with Phill playing 5 games, but I mentioned in last week’s column that he’d only missed 2 games all season, so it goes without saying he would be injured this week. 



Slated to miss the 76ers&#8217; first 2 games this week with a finger injury, I absolutely wouldn’t blame anyone for selling, but if he looks likely to play the remaining 3 games, then I think he’s a hold and then watch him cook while Embiid is still out injured too. 



Scottie Barnes (TOR, PG/SF)



Scottie seems to have hit a mid-season lull, with numbers down across the board over the last 3-4 weeks. 



After stating the year with 6 x 100-point weeks in the first 9, he’s now only hit triple figures once in the last 5, including 52, 67 &amp; 61 in the last 3. 



Barnes is still the 6th leading scorer for the season overall, so in my opinion, he’s earned himself some breathing space for now. 



The Raptors play 4 games this week and 3 in the next, so if it’s another quiet one this time around, then it’ll be a good time to make a change.

Jaylen Brown (BOS, SG/SF)



It’s been some kind of season from Boston in general, with a lot of early talk about whether they should throw this year out, trade some assets, and start again next season once Tatum comes back healthy. 



Fast forward a measly 6 months from tip-off, and not only is Tatum already back and looking good, but the Celtics are somehow 2nd in the East. 



Jaylen Brown has undoubtedly been the main reason for their conference position, and his reward for all that effort is me pondering whether he should be sold from rosters now that Tatum is back on the court. 



He’s still managed to put up a very healthy 23 / 8 / 7 in the two games since his partner-in-crime returned, and while it’s a ruthless world here in Supercoach, for now, I think we can give Jaylen another week or two before cutting him. 



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">SELL</h3>



Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC, PG)



Jaylen Brown might’ve survived the cut this week, but I’m in the mood to take down a big name, so let’s make it a good one. 



How about the 3rd overall scorer in Supercoach? 



By most points of reference, Shai’s been more than fine in the last month, but when you’re a $20M plus player, then the lights are brighter, and unfortunately, not cracking 100 points in the last 3 game weeks is not going to leave us with many options. 



OKC also play just the 3 games this week and then 3 games again next week, so it’s a begrudging goodbye for now, but I’m sure we’ll meet again.

Derik Queen (NOP, C/PF)



As good as Queen has been in different stretches this season, he’s actually now a victim of his own success. 



With 13% ownership and a pricetag above $11M, he is too valuable to leave in your squad for a week while the Pelicans play just 2 games. 



Lauri Markannen (UTA, PF/SF)



This really just serves as a public service announcement to counterbalance the Kyle Filipowski addition above. 



Markannen is out for at least another 2 weeks, but still has 11% ownership, meaning 1 in 10 of us have $14.7M sitting around doing nothing. Must be nice.
