NBA Supercoach | Week 12: Buy, Hold & Sell

Everyone’s favourite time of the week, where I pretend to know what’s going to happen in the next 7 days of NBA Supercoach based on player form, injury news, upcoming schedules and an intimate knowledge of 2010’s basketball. 



Is that all relevant? 



Only time will tell.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">BUY</h3>



Collin Murray-Boyles (TOR, PF/C)&nbsp;



The first-round rookie has been eating whilst Jakob “The Turtle” Poeltl has missed time with a back injury. 



In fact, there’s been so much eating from Murray-Boyles that he finished T-9th for total SC points in Week 11 with 111. 



It seems likely that The Turtle will return at some point this upcoming week, which will certainly hurt CMB’s value, but it’s worth checking the injury reports prior to the trade deadline on Tuesday morning, because with 4 games and a $6M-ish price tag, he will be worth an add with gametime.&nbsp;



Peyton Watson (DEN, SF/PF)



Let’s start with a quote from some genius 7 days ago – “Watson is seeing more than 33 minutes per game over the last fortnight and has turned out back-to-back 60+ point SC weeks, a solid return for less than $10M”. 



Sometimes my foresight is a burden, especially when I don’t listen to myself. 



Watson delivered yet again in Week 11, this time cracking the 100 SuperCoach point mark. 



Jamal Murray missed time, which definitely helped the cause, but with another 4 games coming up this week, there’s still some value to be gained from adding Watson for Week 12.





Julian Champagnie (SAS, SF/SG)



We’re bargain hunting here for Week 12 and there might be another sub-$10M purchase to add to the shopping basket in San Antonio. 



The Other Champagnie brother, as Wizards star Justin calls him, Julian, has been seeing a team-high 34 minutes per game since Devin Vassell went down injured and averaged a 15 / 10 double-double over the last 7 days. 



There’s no current timeline on Vassell’s return, and while the Spurs just play 3 games this week, they do go into a 4-gamer next week, so be ready to pop the Champagnie for Week 13 if he keeps the production up.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">HOLD</h3>



Nickeil Alexander-Walker (ATL, SG/SF)



Alexander-Walker is up there Jokic for most Buy Hold Sell appearances for the season, one of basketball’s most prestigious honours. 



Back in Week 10 we had him as a Hold based on his level of production when getting good minutes, and a potential Trae Young trade on the horizon. 



Since then, NAW’s gone on to average 22 PPG, 4 rebounds and 3 assists and Trae has been packed off to Washington so theoretically Nickeil should be a great value add moving forward. 



If you have him he’s certainly worth keeping, but if he’s on your watchlist, it might be prudent to hold off for a week to see how new recruits CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert fit into the rotation. 



They’re not likely to take starters&#8217; minutes away from Nickeil, but both are veteran players that can contribute to winning basketball games. 



Shai Gilegous-Alexander (OKC, PG/SG) 



We love a family tie here at Buy Hold Sell, so let’s include a pair of Canadian cousins just for the heck of it. 



95 SC points is a pretty lean return for a 4-game week by Shai’s standards, but missing just his second game of the season was the mitigating factor. 



It’s still a tough pill to swallow when you’re stumping up $21M+ for a player, and the Thunder have hit a weird little patch that included a run of 6 losses in 12 games, which makes it hard to trust the underlying numbers for SGA. 



Let me break it down for you…keep this man in your team. 



He barely misses games, he’s the leading active SC player in the league with Jokic out, and class is permanent. 





Jalen Johnson (ATL, PF/SF)



Yet another star to see a slight downturn in Week 11, JJ dropped down well below his season averages for points, assists and steaks over the last 7 days, including back-to-back games with less than 20 points. 



Some new faces on the scene may be a factor, but we’re willing to bet on the ever-growing talent he’s shown over not just this season but the last few now. 



Similar to SGA, he’s now over the $20M price point, so there’s a level of responsibility that comes with that, and the Hawks play back-to-back 3 game weeks. 



He’s a stress-free Code 1 Monitor for now. 



Derik Queen (NO, C/PF)



Here’s a stat – Derik Queen is the 13th most owned player in SuperCoach! 



Seems kind of crazy that he’s become an integral part of so many teams, but if you’ve had him since the early days, then he’s delivered what will be more than $7M in value growth by the time you read this. 



He’ll be up to around $12M for this week, which is still a good price, but it’s also expensive enough that he’ll need to deliver decent output to justify it. 



Considering he’s not gone under 50 SC points since Week 2 and last week was a juicy 98 points, we’re pretty confident he’ll be a hold for a while longer yet.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">SELL</h3>



Jaylen Brown (BOS, SF/SG)



After having a great run for the previous month or so it was a relatively quiet 72 SC points in Week 11 for J-Bone. 



While there’s no long-term question marks around his ability to deliver, at the time of writing Brown is due to miss the Celtics match up against Indiana on Tuesday with back spasms, and after that Boston only have another 2 games for the week. 



If you have other big moves to make, then he could be a brave hold through to Week 13, but if you have the option, then it could be a good time to give Jaylen a week out of the rotation.

Cade Cunningham (DET, PG/SG)&nbsp;



Cunningham, Cunningham, flush him down the dunny can! 



Bit of an old school chant I used to know and potentially a bit harsh on the Pistons star, but Detroit play just twice this upcoming week, and Cade is battling a wrist injury at the same time. 



Another high value ($19M) / high ownership player (18%) so there could be some big moves in the SC clubhouse this week. 



The Pistons head into 2 x 4-game weeks after this one, and Cunningham is a top 10 overall SC scorer, so don’t worry about him being out in the cold for too long.

Kel’el Ware (MIA, C)



A shift back to the bench is both the result of a cooler run of form for Ware, and a reason that it’s going to be tougher for him to turn it around in the short term. 



He’s very sneakily the 31st best SC performer for the season, which is quite shocking to me! 



The most telling factor over the last two games has been the 16 &amp; 17 minutes on the floor, and while there are a bunch of other quality options around that $13M-$15M price point, he’s a tough one to justify and he’s starting again on a regular basis.
