The Final Word | Round 15 NRL Supercoach Trades plans and strategy

Welcome to the second major bye week of the NRL season due to Origin 2 next Wednesday night.



Its critical to know that this means you will score from your best 13 players only rather then the usual 17. But how many should we have? Can you have too many? What about next week after Origin? 



Lets get into it.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Strategy</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Overall Players</h3>



In terms of numbers I think we can reassess a little given the plethora or injuries and the like last weekend. Personally I’m looking at 14 players but that does include Sandon Smith who’s role is unknown and Tuki Simpkins who may only see 20 minutes. 



That means I currently have 12 guaranteed starters and I’m ok with that. Sure, I’d love 1 more but there is absolutely no need to stress. If you have 11 starters that’s somewhat ok as well but I wouldn’t want to go to much lower if you are chasing top end ranks. 



For what its worth I would include Sandon in my starters as there is every chance he plays decent minutes.

On the flipside I don’t think you need more then 15 starters so there is no need to chase anymore then that. If you get yourself to 15 then you can then trade with an eye on Rounds 16 &amp; 18 or hold the trade and reassess next week.



Speaking of next week it looks to be potentially the trickiest of the bye rounds if Origin stars don’t back up. Check your numbers now and consider that you have 2 trades next week. 



Are you covered for 17 players? If not or if you could be caught short if Origin player have a rest then consider this now with the guys you are trading in and out as you may need players who play this week and next. Teams on the bye next week are the Canterbury Bulldogs, Manly and St George Illawarra.



Kiraz for example is a gun but he doesn’t play next week. Can you afford to get him now or is it better waiting until after his bye?



Other players like Tedesco play this round as well as 16, 18 and 19. That’s about as handy as it comes.

I looked at keeping Munster but Campbell playing this week and next when Munster may rest is the deal maker here.



Iro – Farnworth makes sense as a like for like season swap whilst Isaako is the flyer. I love the matchup this week and he covers next week unlike Kiraz.



There are soooo many options this week but I think I have landed here. For now anyway… Updates on Whatsapp as they come to hand.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">NRL SuperCoach PODs and SuperPODs</h2>

Greg Marzhew – 7.9%



We know what he is capable of with his work rate, tackle busting and offloading ability.



The question on him is his side has lost a lot of star power this week but if healthy he could be a keeper all year. 1 try generally means 85+.



Toby Couchman – 6.7%



I love this kid. I think I prefer him in the middle although the edge sees him play 80 minutes. Plays rounds 15, 18 and 19 and POD of the week for mine. Note he misses next week so this must be considered.



Cherry-Evans – 6.2%



The last dance for him at Manly and surely looking to prove a point. Has struggled with scoring since he confirmed his Manly exit but is capable of going large. Does he find form again? Is he too old now to produce at that level consistently? Champions tend to respond and he is just that. Misses next week. Lots to consider. I prefer Hughes next week.



Clint Gutherson – 5.9%



I have to put him in. Averaging 77 for the year but a lot of his huge scores were earlier in the season. Plays 15 and 18, 19 but as with Couchman does miss next week. He is capable of tonning on any given day. But can you afford a FB or flex spot for him?



Jacob Preston – 4.8%



He is back from suspension, fresh and fired up! I love Preston and could never steer you away from him if you wanted a piece. Misses next week but plays this week, 18 and 19. Only other issue is sometimes he lacks running opportunities but when they come he delivers.

Isaiya Katoa – 4.7%



Let’s be honest he is probably the best young halfback I’ve ever seen (at his age). It’s absurd what he is doing. This doesn’t always translate directly to Supercoach as he does a lot of inside work to create space for his back line but he still averages 70 in the last 5 games and could tear apart the Cowboys. If he could add some line breaks and tries to his game he would go to an elite level. A nice flyer!&nbsp;



Ronaldo Mulitalo – 3.9%



A proven try scorer who’s work rate is up this year. A genuine option! Has low games in him which is the risk.



Jesse Ramien – 3.5% each



He is way undervalue due to an injury and is pretty rock solid. You can’t go too far wrong with him as he has a decent base. Lacks upside in a stacked Ctw/Wing spot?



Lachie Galvin – 2.3%



He is a born Supercoach scorer and looks a very nice POD play. No one yet knows where he will be playing in coming weeks when Burton returns to the lineup. This is what is keeping me away at this stage as well as next weeks bye but if you are covered maybe you have a crack now? Prefer to wait for round 17 team lists personally though if he is backup 5-8 it may not matter.



Kai Pearce-Paul – 2.0%



Criminally under owned, probably due to Newcastle’s attack but he doesn’t rely on this. He is averaging 66 and attack does seem to be more likely in recent weeks. Misses round 18 but otherwise very useful.

Its bye week so weird things can happen and there are so many options.



I am thinking VC Tedesco into Isaako (I know!) or Koloamatangi.



Hynes, any Manly player &amp; Drinkwater are others I fancy.
