<p>I&#8217;m writing today live from enemy territory just over the QLD border in Redcliffe. </p>



<p>Before I pop down to Dolphins captains run to see what <strong>Herbie</strong> actually looks like in real life &amp; get into some pre Magic Round recon. </p>



<p>I&#8217;m taking the opportunity to write about squad balance and mainly who do we upgrade first.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>NRL Supercoach Squad Balance</strong></h3>



<p>The reason I thought to specifically talk about this today is because I really wanted to trade in <strong>Cam Munster</strong> last week but upon making my trades I realised the following 5 guys would be on my bench in coming weeks:</p>



<ul>
<li>Kalyn Ponga </li>



<li>Corey Horsburgh </li>



<li>Nicho Hynes</li>



<li>Jacob Preston</li>



<li>Cam Munster </li>
</ul>



<p>That&#8217;s mean I would have had to leave out 1 of the above 5 which is certainly not ideal at this time of year and I&#8217;d have to maybe even leave 2 out if I wanted to VC loop. </p>



<p>So rather then upgrade <strong>Harris-Tavita</strong> to <strong>Munster</strong> I saved the money and now will be able to focus on the weaker parts of my squad who I am forced to play in my 18 every week. </p>

<p>For you, this might be hooker, for me it&#8217;s a chance to concentrate on upgrading my centres.</p>



<p>Essentially I want to be able to ensure I have my strongest possible top 14 guys available each week on field and then the bench/reserves can come after that.</p>



<p>It&#8217;s all good bringing in another gun on the bench but if you can&#8217;t play him and you are forced to play an inconsistent centre then your points will suffer. </p>



<p>So strengthen the starting squad and you can then look to add depth on the bench from there. </p>



<p>For example, if I had traded in <strong>Munster</strong> last week I would have had to not play him (or <strong>Horsburgh</strong>) and be actively playing a <strong>Robert Toia </strong>in my centres.</p>



<p>Instead I have <strong>Harris-Tavita</strong> at backup 5-8 still as a non player, <strong>Toia</strong>&#8216;s spot is now taken by <strong>Jacob Kiraz</strong> and my 4 man bench remains super strong. </p>



<p>This is an example of balance so take a look at how your trades impact your own squad and which positions you need to be upgrading right now.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Spy&#8217;s Round 7 Trades and Captains</strong></h3>



<p>I&#8217;m excited to spend my hard earned dollars and my trades at the moment are as follows:</p>



<ul>
<li>Savelio Tamale OUT, Jacob Kiraz IN</li>



<li>Gehamat Shibasaki OUT, Val Holmes IN</li>



<li>Lachlan Hubner OUT, Dylan Egan OR other downgrade to free up the above trades</li>
</ul>



<p><strong>Tuipulotu</strong> will sit on the bench for a week then upgrade to another gun unless I look to downgrade him now to a <strong>Hiroti</strong> or similar. </p>



<p>Unfortunately I am just shy of a triple upgrade at this stage. </p>



<p>Unless I can work some late magic!</p>



<p>VC I am thinking<strong> Ryan Papenhuyzen</strong> into <strong>Terrell May</strong> because the Tigers will be ultra fired up and will be desperate for a win after the week that has been.</p>
