Updated team reveal: SC Spy drops his Supercoach BBL squad

Well g’day Legends,



How are we all?



Your mate Spy is back and rejuvenated following a genuine review of my approach and inevitably some simplification of how I approach fantasy sports.



&nbsp;So far so good in the EPL and NBA, so let’s see if we can roll it into the cricket.



A key part of the rejuvenation is to truly back myself and trust what I think feels right.

To allow this, I want to make time to decide on my plans before I start listening to other people and reading opinions.



Essentially wipe out the outside noise, trust my sporting instincts and once that is all said and done I can take on board outside discussions to see if I may have erred in any decision making and readjust accordingly if required.



Another key tactic I am fully onboard with now is to not over worry about ‘potential’ issues.



In NRL terms, this is the Hynes debacle of the recent season when I scared myself out of buying and captaining him due to a calf complain.



The new Spy would have just traded him in and backed him in for his monster score.

Sure there are still circumstances to be risk adverse, but at other times just hit the go button and see how it unfolds.



I am then happy to live with what happens as long as the risk and upside is calculated, because as we know not everything will go our way and that’s okay. Hopefully more good than bad arrives!



While I’m on it, I’ve added a couple more golden rules following some self-analysis:

<li>Don’t be stubborn when others are talking someone up. I can do this at times and naturally look to go against the grain which is fine, but only if it’s for the right reasons.</li>



<li>Be more flexible. In the past I have at times written someone off and again been too stubborn to reassess. At times I will ask myself ‘was I wrong about player X?’. Sometimes, you’ve just got to take your medicine.</li>



<li>The same goes for too much faith in players. Sometimes I trust too much that the individual or the club may improve. Again, I want to adapt quicker and reassess my views as required.</li>



<li>This adaptability I think is key given how quickly form and the like seems to be changing at times in modern sport. I am going to be very open to form changes for players and clubs alike.</li>
</ol>



Oh and the final point of my fantasy review and upcoming tactics is to listen carefully to what the SC Playbook’s new addition Andrew Langley BACK-TO-BACK Champ has to say.



Because if you don’t listen into him and learn then who would you listen to? What an absolute superstar!

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Wicket-keepers</h3>



Sam Billings – Billings starts on the triple for the Heat and is expected to feature in all three games. He&#8217;s explosive and has a tonne of experience in Australian conditions, and starts cheap at just $116,900.



Sam Whiteman – Will he or won&#8217;t he play? The opening roles for the Scorchers are up for grabs. Regardless, I think Whiteman is a fair pick. Either he opens and has strong scoring potential, or he misses out entirely and can be used for the wicket-keeper loop. Batting down the order would arguably the worst result for owners.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Batsmen</h3>



Colin Munro – A massive hitter, with a proven track record in the BBL, starting on the triple, in!



Will Sutherland – Yet another with some question marks over role, but Sutherland has been in strong domestic form this season and could land a plum role for the Renegades. He should bowl his four overs and get a hit with the bat more often than not. With his upside, it&#8217;s a small risk I&#8217;m happy to take.



Glenn Maxwell – Double game week. Picks himself if healthy and he stops falling off golf carts!



Sam Harper – Harper is a great exponent of the wicket-keeper loophole with the way the Stars draw has fallen. The doubles early in the season, including a bye in round 2. He belted a quick-fire Shield tonne recently, so he enters the tournament in strong form.



Tom Curran – This guy is very good. Curran arguably has the best role in Supercoach and can start the tournament with a bang.



Bench



D’Arcy Short &#8211; Cheap and capable of going big, but not necessarily locked in just yet. Assessing his role for the Strikers once that final team drops will be vital as he needs to bat top three.



Ben McDermott – Absurd price and one of my boys!

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bowlers</h3>



Aaron Hardie – Hardie is one of the best bats in the competition, and has the added bonus of potentially rolling the arm over for the Scorchers. He top scored in BBL12 with 460 runs @41.81, striking at 141.10 and starts on the double for the Scorchers. I won&#8217;t bank on him getting too many overs, but if he does, he&#8217;d become the must-have player of Round 1.



Kane Richardson – A STUD, double game, he is in!



Adam Zampa – Zampa starts at $132k and is coming off a stellar ODI World Cup campaign. With five games in the first three rounds he&#8217;s hard to pass up. At huge ownership, you&#8217;ll be left behind if he starts the tournament with a haul of wickets.



Marcus Stoinis – Stoin is in good form and again if he’s healthy he is in for me. Despite last season’s struggles he actually did a job for me whenever I played him! Double game, hopefully bowls, injury risk.



Spencer Johnson – This young fella is a picture of consistency and is excellent with the ball. I like him for the triple!

Bench



Tanveer Sangha – Tanveer is a good young player and starts cheap. The Thunder have a nice early draw for utilising the loophole, namely round 2 and 3 where they play early, so Tanveer looks a great pick-up ahead of their round 4 double.



David Payne &#8211; The English import will be a key figure for the Strikers to begin the tournament. With Adelaide on the round 2 double, I&#8217;m really keen to store a few of their players on my bench in preparation. Payne looks a strong bet to play both games of the round 2 double.



That&#8217;s how my side will line-up for round 1, of course barring any big changes to team lists.
