Draft Breakdown: Waiver-wire targets, Rd 8

Every week I will be looking at players still available in 65% of leagues. There may be better options still available in your league, but this article will be focusing on the players that are likely to be available in most leagues.



Nicho Hynes and Reuben Garrick had crackers last week and hopefully they helped some of you to a win.



Early reports suggest Jake Simpkin may be sharing time with Jacob Liddle this week, which was a big fear and why I had Sam Verrills ahead of him – who looked really sharp in the 36 minutes he played.



Connor Tracey was decent in a struggling side and let’s not talk about Seb Kris or any Raiders’ outside backs that aren’t Jordan Rapana.



Let’s have a look at the options we have this week, ahead of the coming team lists.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">WAIVER-WIRE TARGETS</h2>



Reece Walsh (FLB)



Walsh had a great debut at fullback for the Warriors with 58 points against the Storm last week and could hold the fullback/five-eighth (as named) spot for the entire season.



He looks to have all the potential to make a great SuperCoach player with speed, footwork and ability to create for his outside men.



If you are struggling for a fullback or need a fill in, Walsh is a great option if named, especially this week against the Cowboys.

Matt Lodge (FRF)



Since coming back from his hamstring injury, Lodge has averaged 52PPG in 42MPG.



He has been given a licence to offload and the Broncos look the most threatening when he is on the field.



Brisbane have also recently started using two hookers in their 17-man team, which should see even more game time for Lodge.



Matt Ikuvalu (CTW)



Ikuvalu is likely to come into the Roosters side as they reshuffle to replace Teddy who will likely be ruled out with concussion.



Last year Ikuvalu averaged 58PPG including 29 points in base stats.



He is a hard working winger that could score 65+ with one try.

Keaon Koloamatangi (2RF)



Up until last week Koloamatangi has been averaging 37PPG, all in base stats.



Cody Walker doesn’t setup or use his left edge forward, which combined with Koloa’s poor base has resulted in these poor scores.



Benji Marshall on the other hand utilises and sets up his edge forward.



Luke Garner last year was averaging 10PPG more than he is this season, mainly as a result of Benji’s magic.



Koloa could be a good attacking option with Benji at 5/8 up until Latrell returns in three weeks.
