Niko’s watchlist: Trades, breakevens, and tags, Round 24

2021 runner-up Steven Nikolovski analyses the players he's most interested in, but also keeps a close eye on any potential tags that might occur this week

AFL

2590 for my side this week, and a comfortable victory over the SC Bandit in our league final 😉

The rank now sits at 1106m so I can smell the top 1011 and a new pair of socks.

Plenty of good contributions and I hit the right captain for a change which was nice.

The guys I put in the never again list on last week’s podcast continued to annoy – Docherty 64, Witts 89, and DCam 97.

I cannot believe the final round is here.  If you’ve kept a trade up your sleeve for your grand final, this article is aimed at you.

Watchlist: The one-week play

Oh, the sweet taste of a luxury trade!

This is for that one guy who is really bugging you in your starting line-up… The time to boot them is now.

These are my top luxury trades to get you that all important league grand final win.

Over the next 12 months an estimated 60% of all fixed rate mortgages are going to expire. Patty and George from Mortgage Choice SCW can get you the best rate possible. It’s a super easy process, so flick them a message. Save $129 by mentioning SC Playbook for a FREE CONSULT!

  1. Tim Taranto to Taylor Walker:  The Texan scored 208 against the Eagles last time out, and he’s chasing another double figure haul to steal the Coleman.  Taranto has a 5-round average of 88.4 (only the one ton in the last eight) so I can’t see you losing on this trade.
  2. Andrew Brayshaw/Caleb Serong to Butters/Tom Green:  I’m worried the Maginness tag will cost league wins.  I’d look at this, especially if you have one of the Freo lads as a unique in your match-up.  You’d need a little kitty to get to Butters who could explode Sunday arvo against the Tigers.
  3. Lachie Neale/Jack Steele to Touk Miller/Noah Anderson/Sam Flanders:  I’m backing the better fixture here with the Suns taking on North.  Lachie has been underwhelming with a 3-round average of 91.7, and Steele has been up and down all season.
  4. Josh Dunkley to Charlie Curnow:  This could massively backfire but could be something if you are a big underdog.  Dunks has a 3-round of 79.3!
  5. Sam Docherty to Lachie Whitfield/Harry Sheezel:  Now I’ve put this last even though Doc is frustrating the hell out of me.  Sam Walsh and Adam Cerra back in SHOULD mean he returns to defence and scores much better.

Tag Watch

Jai Newcombe/Will Day – Hayden Young is on fire in this new role.  Latest victim was Rozee with a 75.

Andrew Brayshaw/Caleb Serong – As already touched on, the hard tag from Maginness will go to one of the two.

Luke Davies-Uniake – Touk Miller could once again do a shutdown job.  Taking down LDU will get the Suns halfway there to another win.
