Croker’s Call: Ambush awaits in debut finals appearance

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker reveals his NRL SuperCoach trades and tactics for Round 22.

Croker's Call

Supercoach finals footy has arrived, and the Stockmen are ready to cause a boilover in our debut appearance.

Despite losing last week’s head-to-head clash with a score of 1,145 to sit just outside the top 10,000, we snuck into eighth place and now face Tim Williams in the elimination final.

He knocked me off last week, but we rested a few stars in order to be fully prepared for this week’s encounter.

In saying that, Angus Crichton’s suspension and Jason Taumalolo’s injury haven’t helped my squad.

Fortunately I had three trades in hand to play with so I’ve made a move in order to score an upset win and keep the title dream alive.

Here’s a look at my moves for Round 22.

TRADES

ANGUS CRICHTON to TYSON FRIZELL

Crichton has been exceptional since buying a long while back, but a three game suspension means he has to be moved on.

He was highly owned it appears, so I’m pretty excited to get in Knights back-rower Tyson Frizell who I owned earlier in the season.

He was ripping and tearing when I did own, back to full fitness with a few games under his belt following injury I’m sure he can help me finish on a high.

He’s strong as an ox and the late footwork at the line leads to plenty of tacklebusts and a quick play-the-ball more often than not, although the latter doesn’t exactly lead to Supercoach points as such.

With his big work ethic and ability to find the line I’m sure he’s set for a big finish to the season.

Just the one trade this week which leaves me with a stack of cash in the bank and two trades left for the final three rounds.

CAPTAINS

While fairly predictable I’ll be going with Tom Trbojevic as my captain pick this week.

I tried to make a case to look elsewhere but it just seems the smart play.

If I find myself in trouble in my head-to-head clash I have a few other options to change up the captain.

The tough part will be remembering to make the switch mid-weekend which has never been a strong point of mine.

My vice-captain will be Sammy Walker against the Broncos.

He’s a tremendous talent and has the potential to score huge should the Roosters get away from their opposition.

That’s it for Round 22, good luck to everyone!
