EPL Supercoach | Dylan Bolch's Team Reveal + analysis


<p>The Premier League is officially back!</p>



<p>I’ve been a massive FPL player in recent years, finishing in the top 5% for five consecutive seasons, headlined by a career-best rank of 11,204 last year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>In Supercoach EPL last season, I ended up ranked 347th in the overall standings, but I didn’t properly commit to the different strategies that come with this version of the game.&nbsp;</p>



<p>While there are certainly similarities, the pricing and scoring system is certainly different, but this is the year I totally lock in.</p>



<p>Hey, given my beloved West Ham have been relegated, why else am I going to watch Coventry and Ipswich at 3am in the morning if it’s not to see my Fantasy players?</p>

<p>Here’s how I’m shaping up ahead of GW1.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Goalkeepers</strong></h2>



<p>Last year I started with two playing keepers, trying to target the best fixture of the two every week.</p>



<p>While it certainly had its perks, this season I’m keen to go ‘set and forget’ in this position.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Arsenal were champions last year and I can’t see anyone chasing them down this campaign.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The likes of Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool have all undergone serious change in the off-season and could take a while to gel, but the Gunners look as solid as ever.</p>



<p>Their defence last year was exceptional, so I’m going for <strong>David Raya</strong> between the sticks this year, with <strong>Tommy Setford</strong> as my loophole option at basement price.</p>



<p>Nailing your captaincy each week in Supercoach EPL can be the difference between a good and bad week, so I’m keen to get two cracks at it.</p>



<p>If you wanted to go with a different strategy, then I don’t mind Antonin Kinsky or Senne Lammens as alternatives.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Defenders</strong></h2>



<p>I’ve found the defensive line pretty tough to settle on, but right now I’m targeting value.&nbsp;</p>



<p>At D1 I’ve gone with <strong>Harry Maguire</strong>. I want a piece of the Man United fixtures given they’ve got two promoted sides in Hull City and Ipswich Town across the first fortnight and then Everton in GW3 after that. I don’t love spending over £6M and he might be the one to go if I need to reshuffle, but I think the fixtures are pretty good.</p>



<p>You can lock in a pair of new signings in Brighton’s <strong>Luka Vuskovic</strong> and Leeds’ <strong>Tarik Muharemovic</strong>. Both are cheaply priced and are great base stat players, so I’m happy to pick them and watch them make plenty of cash.&nbsp;</p>



<p>I’ve gone with Chelsea’s <strong>Marco Palestra</strong> as well. The Italian youngster has been playing as a wing-back over pre-season and gets into plenty of attacking positions. If he’s not named in GW1, then I can pivot to his teammate Levi Colwill.</p>

<p>I’d been settled on Arsenal’s Cristhian Mosquera, who looks set to fill the void left by the injured William Saliba in defence, but I’m now a bit wary given it looks like Ezri Konsa’s signing isn’t far away.</p>



<p>As a result, I’ve pivoted to Liverpool’s <strong>Jeremie Frimpong</strong>, who fingers crossed can finally show his wares in the Premier League after a horror run of injuries. I like that he gets forward a lot and it’s a cheap route into Liverpool’s defence.</p>



<p>I’d love to find a way to squeeze in Riccardo Calafiori but I’m not sure where I can find the additional funds right now.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Midfielders</strong></h2>



<p>You can lock away <strong>Bruno Fernandes</strong> as a season-long keeper and weekly captaincy option. The guy is a beast and while I’m not sure if he can replicate last season’s record-breaking exploits, he’s a must-have.</p>



<p>I’m also keen to dabble with <strong>Florian Wirtz</strong>, who is available for just under £7M. Liverpool have pretty decent fixtures over the first month of the season and I like Wirtz as a bit of a mid-priced play. There was a bit of a logjam at Liverpool last year, but I think Wirtz’s minutes are pretty safe early doors.</p>



<p>I’ve currently got <strong>Cole Palmer</strong> in there too, but I’m not completely sold. He’s got massive upside, but last year he struggled to get going, partly due to injury concerns but his form when on the pitch also wasn’t great. If I want to get the funds for Calafiori in defence, then this is where I think I could downgrade. Having said that, a genuine attacker who is on penalties and set pieces is ticking a lot of boxes.</p>

<p>Cheapie-wise, new Brentford signing <strong>Mamadou Sangare</strong> looks like incredible value having starred for Lens last year in Ligue 1. I’m expecting pretty solid base stats from him.</p>



<p>Then it’s a toss-up between a pair of new signings in Fulham’s Oscar Bobb and United’s <strong>Andrey Santos</strong>. Bobb’s got the attacking upside, but Santos should have the better base stats and has had a solid pre-season.</p>



<p>I’d love to take a punt on 1% owned Pascal Groß, but I am a little bit deterred by the signing of Promise David who could take penalties off him at Brighton. Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard is another I’m seriously considering, while Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboslai is another worth thinking about.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Forwards</strong></h2>



<p>I’m pretty set on this line. Manchester City’s <strong>Erling Haaland</strong> has enormous explosive potential and I’m not brave enough to take him on, while Liverpool’s <strong>Alexander Isak</strong> is too cheap to ignore at under £5M given he looks set to lead the line under new coach Andoni Iraola.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Teams will differ on the third forward slot, but I’m keen on Chelsea’s <strong>Joao Pedro</strong> who has had a great pre-season. I expect Chelsea to rise this year and for him to score plenty of goals.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo and Arsenal cheapie Christos Tzolis are others that have crossed my mind, but I think I’m pretty settled.</p>
