AFL Supercoach 2026: Power Rankings - Finals Week 4

It&#8217;s the preliminary final weekend and everything is on the line.



I stuck to my guns last week, resisted the temptation to tinker, and came out with a score of 1294, taking me inside the top 6k for the first time this SC Finals season.&nbsp;



Things are getting super tight now, so every pick matters.&nbsp;



Let’s take a look at the best players to pick on each line in week three of the finals series.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">DEFENDERS</h2>

I’m backing Dayne Zorko again this week. He’s been one of the premier defenders this year when fit and has had a couple of really solid finals, averaging 104 SC points per game. He’s taken the majority of the kick-ins in recent weeks and is so important for Brisbane’s ball movement. 



I’ve ranked my perennial burn man Jordan Clark in second. Sure, he was a painful own throughout 2026, but he’s been one of the Dockers’ best so far this finals series, averaging 110.5 SC points per game. I’m leaning that way right now. 



Hawthorn co-captain James Sicily is another good option, especially given how good he was in their qualifying final win over Fremantle. Sicily was superb that night, constantly repelling Freo’s forays forward and ending with 109 SC points. 



Karl Worner and Blake Hardwick are rogue options and I’d steer clear of Jarman Impey this week because I think Lions speedster Conor McKenna will likely play a negating role on him.

Will Ashcroft is the clear number one here for me. He was red hot during the back half of the home and away season and responded in a big way last week, with 127 SC points in Brisbane’s demolition of the Adelaide Crows. 



I’ve locked in Hawthorn co-captain Jai Newcombe as my second seed, but that’s primarily due to the fact I don’t want to pick three Sydney players and think Newcombe is best of the Hawks bunch. He’s been a proven finals performer in the past and will be doing everything in his power to lift his side into a grand final. 



If anyone can split Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong, then please let me know. The Fremantle pair have been solid without being brilliant from an SC perspective in 2026. Swan Jai Serong has spent some time doing run-with roles in recent weeks and could lock onto one of the Dockers duo. My concern with these two are that if one gets off the chain, the tag could and has previously switched. Maybe Brayshaw has slightly more upside, but Serong is safer for a 105 score? Flip a coin. 



Josh Dunkley and Lachie Neale are Brisbane alternatives in the midfield and have both shone on the big stage before. Dunkley is built for finals and Neale’s been one of the best in the competition for a long time. 



If you’re feeling really rogue, then Hawk Will Day or Docker Shai Bolton have also shown an ability to break games apart on their own. I’d probably go Bolton if you were interested in one of the two.

This is an easy line to pick. Luke Jackson has had a superb finals series and is currently leading the race for the Gary Ayres Award, the coaches’ MVP for the finals series. Jackson’s ability to pile on points at will makes him a must-own and worthy captaincy shout. He can score points in a variety of ways and is in a rich vein of form. 



I’m locking in Brodie Grundy at flex, too. Sure, he hasn’t been in the best form in the second half of the season, but this is a guy who went 200+ earlier this year. Unlike last week where there were a plethora of solid midfield options, this week going Grundy is clearly the best flex play.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">FORWARDS</h2>

Errol Gulden is the easiest pick of the week. He’s in fantastic form, having averaged 139 SC points in his final five matches of the home and away season, before posting a 135 in the qualifying final against the Lions. In the absence of some of Sydney’s senior players, Gulden is well and truly leading from the front. 



I’m happy to back in Lions star Zac Bailey once more. Fresh off signing a new contract extension, Bailey put up a whopping 142 SC points in the semi final against Adelaide and once again, feels like the default F2 pick. He did only score 79 points against the Hawks earlier this year, but I’m happy to back the recent form here. Fremantle key forward Josh Treacy is someone worth considering. After a horror first final against the Hawks this year, Treacy responded in a big way with a huge performance against Geelong, recording 110 SC points. I don’t love the inconsistency in scoring though. 



If you’re looking to get creative, then I don’t mind targeting a pair of half-forwards in Docker Murphy Reid and Hawk Dylan Moore. Reid has had a breakout All-Australian year and makes good things happen, while Moore has found some form in recent weeks, scoring 114 SC points in the qualifying final after averaging 90.7 in the final three weeks of the year. If the Hawks are any chance, players like Moore will need to be at their best.
