AFL Supercoach 2026: Dyl's Skippers - Round 24


<p>One week to go.</p>



<p>This Supercoach season has been an absolute horror show, with plenty of carnage for us all to navigate.&nbsp;</p>



<p>But it’s almost over now.&nbsp;</p>



<p>I doubt there’s many people with trades out there, which means one way to climb the rankings &#8211; or get an edge in your league final &#8211; is to nail your captaincy.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Let’s take a look at the best options in round 24.</p>

<p><strong>Max Hall &#8211; L2 v GCS: 87, 28</strong></p>



<p>With Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera sidelined through injury, Hall has taken his game to another level in recent weeks. The St Kilda star has a three-round average of 148.3 SC points, the second highest in the competition during that period. He hits the scoreboard, uses the ball well and works hard both ways.</p>



<p><strong>Brad Hill &#8211; L3 v GCS: 106, 75, 63</strong></p>



<p>Since his move to half-back following Jack Sinclair’s injury, Hill has been a Supercoach pig. Hill has set the Saints up from the backline, regularly getting involved in ball movement chains. In his 300th AFL appearance, a big score awaits.</p>



<p><strong>Matt Rowell &#8211; L3 v STK: 121, 82, 51</strong></p>



<p>Rowell’s found some good Supercoach form across the past month, getting back to his contested ball-winning best. The star Sun has averaged 128.8 SC points in his last five appearances and has a large ceiling.</p>

<p><strong>Nick Daicos &#8211; L3 v BRI: 110, 172, 112</strong></p>



<p>Obviously this is pending selection, but Daicos is a great option this week against the Lions. The Collingwood superstar has been in great form recently, averaging 125.2 SC points in his last five games. What intrigues me the most about Daicos this week however is that he has a career average of 122 points per game against Brisbane.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Lachie Neale &#8211; L3 v COL: 114, 142, 113</strong></p>



<p>Struggled last week against the Suns, but has had a sneaky good season this year. Could this be a dress rehearsal against his future club?&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Will Ashcroft &#8211; L3 v COL: 139, 86, 43</strong></p>



<p>Will Ashcroft is going to be a Supercoach star for a long period of time, just look at what he’s been able to produce in the back half of the season. He thrives on the big stage and looks ready to hit another big score under Friday night lights as the Lions hunt a top four spot.</p>

<p><strong>Luke Jackson &#8211; L3 v CAR: 147, 142, 91</strong></p>



<p>A pair of 140s in recent times against the Blues, Jackson has rediscovered some strong form across the past fortnight after five consecutive sub tons. I’m wary that he might get managed in-game though as the Dockers prime themselves for finals.</p>



<p><strong>Sam Walsh &#8211; L3 v FRE: 121, 119, 106</strong></p>



<p>Walsh looks a different player under Fraser and his Supercoach scores have reflected that. A strong record against the Dockers and is central to everything good at Carlton right now.</p>



<p><strong>Max Gawn &#8211; L3 v WBD: 114, 142, 162</strong></p>



<p>With Tim English sidelined through injury, Gawn could go nuclear this round against the Bulldogs. The Dees needing to go full throttle, so expect Gawn to be at his absolute best. Check out that recent record against the Dogs, too and he’ll likely face off against undersized ruck Rory Lobb or a more inexperienced player on the weekend.</p>

<p><strong>Marcus Bontempelli &#8211; L3 v MEL: 119, 125, 126</strong></p>



<p>Bontempelli was managed last week and we’re unsure if he’ll return for the clash against Melbourne. If he does, he’s clearly fit and ready to go and would be a great captaincy option.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Ed Richards &#8211; L3 v MEL: 140, 148, 71</strong></p>



<p>If Bontempelli doesn’t play, Richards has shown he can certainly pick up the slack and he’s got the form against the Dees to prove it, too. Richards put together the highest rated performance by a Bulldog ever last week and is in a rich vein of form.</p>



<p><strong>Bailey Smith &#8211; L3 v RIC: 129, 59, 69</strong></p>



<p>Don’t be put off by the recent record or the form slump here for Smith, because Richmond are leaking plenty of points to midfielders right now. If you don’t believe me, check out how Jack Macrae and Max Hall went last week. A mammoth score is on offer for Smith here down at GMHBA Stadium.</p>

<p><strong>Izak Rankine &#8211; L3 v GWS: 86, 121, 61</strong></p>



<p>Rankine is the most in-form player in the competition right now and looks unstoppable. With a five-round average of 151.8 SC points, it’ll be hard to overlook him in a clash where the Giants really don’t have much to play for.</p>



<p><strong>Zach Merrett &#8211; L3 v PTA: 107, 106, 136</strong></p>



<p>Will this be the last time we see Merrett in Essendon colours? With a career average of 113.7 against the Power over his career, we know Merrett can get the job done. Port Adelaide are seriously depleted in the engine room too and Merrett may want to go out with a bang.</p>



<p><strong>Errol Gulden &#8211; L3 v NTH: 96, 142, 96</strong></p>



<p>With several of his star teammates sidelined through suspension, Gulden will have to shoulder more of the load against the Roos this weekend. On another note, he’s been in some elite form recently, averaging 135 SC points across his last five outings. Does he get more attention now though given Sydney’s outs?&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Luke Davies-Uniacke &#8211; L3 v SYD: 131, 117, 104</strong></p>



<p>With James Jordon sidelined due to suspension, ‘LDU’ could really get off the chain in this one. He’s been a real yo-yo this year, so it would be a massive risk, but I’ve heard worse options.</p>
