AFL Supercoach 2026: Dyl's Skippers - Round 15


<p>It was a tricky week for captaincy selection last week and hopefully you managed to hit a big score.</p>



<p>Jordan Dawson went nuclear with a 184, while Demon duo Max Gawn (168) and Kysaiah Pickett (141), as well as Roos pair Tristan Xerri (152) and Harry Sheezel (142) delivered as well.</p>



<p>Having said that, a number of other options failed to reach the heights we were expecting.</p>



<p>On the bye this week are Brisbane, Essendon, Sydney and West Coast, but there are still plenty of captaincy options in round 15.</p>

<p><strong>Luke Jackson &#8211; L3 v GEE: 142, 91, 81</strong></p>



<p>Luke Jackson dominated this fixture earlier in the season (142) and that was with teammate Sean Darcy in the side. In theory, he should feast against Geelong youngster Mitch Edwards again on Thursday night. Jackson’s also loved Optus Stadium this year, averaging 125.5 SC points per game. Fingers crossed we can lock in a big VC score early.</p>



<p><strong>Max Holmes &#8211; L3 v FRE: 141, 125, 104</strong></p>



<p>If you don’t own Jackson, I don’t mind the Holmes pick. Holmes has a strong record against the Dockers in recent times and his efforts will be crucial on Thursday night with midfielder Bailey Smith sidelined with illness. But will Holmes play as a midfielder or defender this week? He can score well in both, but I’d be wary of some increased attention given Smith is out.</p>



<p><strong>Noah Anderson &#8211; L3 v HAW: 95, 152, 155</strong></p>



<p>Anderson struggled late against the Hawks in their earlier encounter this year, but he’s in a rich vein of form right now. Prior to that clash, his past two outings against Sam Mitchell’s side have been huge scores of 150+. Conor Nash is still sidelined through injury, so I expect Anderson to have a relatively clean run at People First Stadium. The Suns need to lift and Anderson will do everything in his power to get them there.</p>

<p><strong>John Noble &#8211; L3 v HAW: 99, 116, 73</strong></p>



<p>A sneaky VC option here, given how much Hawthorn leak points to half-back’s right now. John Noble is firing on all cylinders, averaging 127.8 SC points in his last five matches. If you’re one of the lucky ones to own him, I’d be strongly considering it.</p>



<p><strong>Max Gawn &#8211; L3 v ADE: 79, 129, 120</strong></p>



<p>The Melbourne captain reminded us of his ceiling in a dominant display against Essendon last week, amassing 168 SC points. Adelaide tall Lachie McAndrew has had a strong year, but Gawn’s the most dominant ruck in the game right now. Keep an eye on Melbourne’s selection, if Max Heath returns with Harrison Petty sidelined I don’t love the Gawn play.</p>



<p><strong>Jordan Dawson &#8211; L3 v MEL: 98, 99, 115</strong></p>



<p>This guy is the most in-form player in the competition right now, so you’ve got to at least consider him in your plans if you’re an owner. Averages 130.8 SC points in his last five matches. </p>

<p><strong>Zak Butters &#8211; L3 v COLL: 127, 101, 67</strong></p>



<p>Butters hasn’t been impacted at all by contract talks this year, in fact, there’s an argument he’s taken his game to another level. He’s been one of the most consistent Supercoach performers this year and I expect another big score against the Pies.</p>



<p><strong>Nick Daicos &#8211; L3 v PA: 98, 133, 149</strong></p>



<p>Collingwood’s season feels like it’s teetering on the edge which means this is absolutely a must-win game. Nick Daicos is central to everything Collingwood does and if he can clean up his ball use, a big score looms.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Tristan Xerri &#8211; L3 v RIC: 187, 150, 144</strong></p>



<p>Xerri’s recent record against the Tigers is massive, but that’s as a solo ruck. The Roos looked good with debutant Taylor Goad and forward Cooper Trembath playing more ruck time against the Eagles, so I suspect that’ll happen again which in theory impacts Xerri’s ceiling. Xerri attended just 25 per cent of centre bounces in that clash out west, which makes me nervous to recommend him as a straight C option if Goad’s named again. He scored heaps last week when the game was on the line with some huge contested grabs and big tackles.</p>

<p><strong>Harry Sheezel &#8211; L3 v RIC: 141, 185, 77</strong></p>



<p>Suspect Sheezel does what he pleases in this one &#8211; remember that clash last year where he equalled the V/AFL record for most disposals in a single game? He’s such a classy operator and is unlikely to get much attention.</p>



<p><strong>Luke Davies-Uniacke &#8211; L3 v RIC: 130, 157, 117</strong></p>



<p>The Tigers have leaked points to inside midfielders this year which bodes well for LDU’s captaincy credentials this week. He’s received some attention in the past month, but will hopefully get a cleaner run at things on Sunday. The Roos must-win and I get the sense LDU is in for a big game. You could consider any of these three Roos mentioned.</p>



<p><strong>Marcus Bontempelli &#8211; L3 v STK: 66, 159, 125</strong></p>



<p>Bontempelli’s ceiling has been capped in recent times, but it feels like he’s due a big performance. The Dogs were very disappointing against the Crows and I get the feeling the skipper will want to lead from the front this week against the Saints. I am worried about some attention from Marcus Windhager, though, but you can never write off arguably the best player in the game. </p>

<p><strong>Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera: L3 v WBD: 119, 99, 69</strong></p>



<p>The St Kilda superstar spent just 29 per cent of time at the centre bounce last week, signaling a bit of a role change for Ross Lyon’s best player. Instead, Wanganeen-Milera led the Saints for kick-ins against the Giants. The thing with NAS is he’s never far away from the action and is always a threat.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Bailey Dale &#8211; L3 v STK: 129, 93, 175</strong></p>



<p>Dale’s recent record against the Saints stood out, which is why I’ve snuck him in at the end here. It feels like more of a riskier play than other names on this list, but if it gets to the final game of the round and you need to make up some ground in a head-to-head matchup, you could definitely do worse. </p>
