AFL Supercoach 2026: Bandit's Skippers - Round 11


<p>Last week was the perfect example of the power of choosing your VC and C players wisely. Those who had the VC on Brodie Grundy last week almost certainly would have enjoyed a big rank rise, those who took Daicos, Bontempelli or Jackson would have been pulling their hair out as their ranks took a nosedive.&nbsp;</p>



<p>As we start to trade more premiums in over the byes and teams become more diverse, a big captain score can make or break your week, so getting your options right is crucial. Let’s have a look at the best plays for this week.</p>

<p><strong>Archie Roberts – L2 vs RICH: 142, 99</strong></p>



<p>Roberts looks like he’ll be able to accumulate disposals at will this week in the Dreamtime game against Richmond. Should be a popular VC for those who own him and hopefully they don’t get a repeat of last week where he had a slow start.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Zach Merrett – L3 vs RICH: 96, 156, 119</strong></p>



<p>Merrett is a tough player to catch for a VC score but this week is the perfect time to throw it on him. I can’t see Richmond deploying a tag for him which means he can run around and do what he pleases. Can definitely see him going 130+ here.</p>



<p><strong>Luke Jackson – L3 vs STK: 116, 64, 154</strong></p>



<p>Coaches would be right to feel a little burnt after Jackson spat out his lowest score for the year last week against Essendon, but I think he can bounce back here even against the two-pronged attack of Marshall and De Koning. He’s entitled to a mulligan and I expect him to bounce back.</p>

<p><strong>Brodie Grundy – L3 vs GEEL: 153, 92, 96</strong></p>



<p>Grundy will almost certainly be the most popular captaincy choice this week after chalking up the season’s first double ton last week against the Pies. Geelong is another soft match up for the Swans big man and he should be scoring 130+ again here.</p>



<p><strong>Bailey Smith – L3 vs SYD: 131, 80, 124</strong></p>



<p>Baz is a great ceiling captain option – a player who on his best day is capable of scoring 150+ like we saw last week against Brisbane, remarkably his fourth score of 151 or more this year. There’s some whispers that he’s battling a shoulder concern but if he’s out there against Sydney he’s still a captaincy play.</p>



<p><strong>Nick Daicos – L3 vs WCE: 131, 147, 123</strong></p>



<p>Concerningly, Daicos’ three-round average sits at 87 but he gets a chance to improve that against the Eagles who he loves playing against. Yes he’ll probably get a tag, but it may not matter as the Pies look to celebrate Pendles’ milestone match in style.</p>

<p><strong>Zak Butters – L3 vs CARL: 125, 123, 98</strong></p>



<p>Love Butters as an option this week, gets a soft match up against a Carlton side who I don’t think will be able to clamp him for long enough to stop him from scoring well. Averaging 127.5 at home this year. Lock him in.</p>



<p><strong>Marcus Bontempelli – L3 vs MELB: 125, 185, 126</strong></p>



<p>The whispers around Bont won’t go away and he’s still clearly being hampered by injury. The amazing thing is though that it’s not really slowing him down, albeit he had a bit of quieter game against Carlton where his disposal efficiency wasn’t as good as it usually is. Expect him to bounce back against the Dees who he loves playing.</p>



<p><strong>Max Gawn – L3 vs WB: 142, 130, 162</strong></p>



<p>Like the Hawks last week, Gawn loves playing the Dogs and even if Heath continues to play I think he’ll keep scoring to a captaincy level. The news that Tim English won’t be out there makes me more confident in him being in the mix for a the armband this week.</p>
