AFL Supercoach 2026: Bandit's Skipper's - Round 4


<p>Round 3 was feast or famine for most coaches – well done if you found Nick Daicos for his 150 against GWS or played it safe with Butters against West Coast as he went on to score a solid 126. Coaches who had the C on Xerri would have been tearing their hair out as he not only scored a measly 68 points, but also got himself suspended for the next three weeks.</p>



<p>Let’s take a look at the best captain options this week as we work through the last of the early-season bye rounds.</p>

<p><strong>Nick Daicos – </strong>L3 vs BRIS: 110, 172, 112</p>



<p>After a super game against the Giants last week, it’s emerged that he’s dealing with a bit of a cork this week although there’s no risk of him not playing according to Collingwood. That being said, Jarrod Berry did a job on Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera in the first half of Brisbane’s win over St Kilda last week and I expect he may do something similar this week.</p>



<p><strong>Dayne Zorko</strong> – L3 vs COLL: 101, 70, 127</p>



<p>This one’s a little left field but Collingwood do tend to give up points to designated kickers, with the likes of Sinclair (143), Milera (142), Worrell (116), Whitfield (128) and Ash (106) all putting up big scores on the Pies already this season. I think Zorko can do something similar provided he tidies up his ball use from last week.</p>

<p><strong>Harry Sheezel – </strong>L3 vs CARL: 103, 86, 128</p>



<p>Probably doesn’t get the plaudits he deserves from the SC community because he’s so highly owned, but it’s time to start taking him seriously as a VC/C option. This is a good match up for Sheezel on Good Friday with Carlton leaking points to opposition midfielders. Worth considering for the VC this week.</p>



<p><strong>Zak Butters</strong> – L3 vs RICH: 89, 175, 104</p>



<p>The flashing light for Butters here is the 175 from a couple of games ago against the Tigers, where he picked up 34 disposals and a goal. He looks primed to do something similar this week with Port likely to have midfield dominance over a struggling and banged up Richmond side. Looks like a safe C play again this week.</p>

<p><strong>Brodie Grundy – </strong>L3 vs WCE: 104, 93, 144</p>



<p>West Coast is the easiest match up for opposition rucks in the competition at the moment and I expect that to continue this week when Grundy comes up against Matt Flynn. Although it looks like West Coast are starting to turn the corner with their on-field performances, I’m expecting Brodie to be a big factor in a Swans win on the road. Great ceiling VC option this week.</p>



<p><strong>Max Gawn</strong> – L3 vs GCS: 90, 88. 97</p>



<p>Gawn has been well held by Jarrod Witts in recent times but with Max on a heater at the moment you’d be a brave man to bet against him putting up another 120+ score. I think with some of the other match ups we have available this week I’d be looking elsewhere, but he’s got some very scoreable games coming up after this one.</p>

<p><strong>Marcus Bontempelli</strong> – L3 vs ESS: 169, 140, 73</p>



<p>Oh boy, that recent record makes for scary reading if, like me, you’re not a Bont owner yet. This game could be his for the taking, either in the midfield or up forward with three Brownlow votes on offer. If you’ve got him, he simply has to get the C this week. For non-owners, let’s hope Essendon sit on him, but I doubt they will.</p>
