EPL Supercoach base Stats: Foundation metrics you must track


<p>You&#8217;re already tracking goals, assists, and clean sheets. But if you&#8217;re not analysing base stats &#8211; the consistent weekly actions that build reliable point floors &#8211; you&#8217;re missing a crucial piece of squad construction. </p>



<p>Base stats won&#8217;t tell you who&#8217;s about to explode, but they&#8217;ll show you which players deliver steady returns week after week, and which ones turn into genuine monsters when they do hit their attacking output or clean sheets.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why I Analyse Base Stats (And Why You Should Care)</strong></h3>



<p>Base stats is a concept I&#8217;ve adapted from NRL Supercoach. These are the repeatable actions players perform week to week that consistently add to their fantasy score: key passes, accurate crosses, successful dribbles, tackles, aerial wins, clearances, blocked shots, and interceptions.</p>



<p>I would never pick players based purely on these numbers, but here&#8217;s the key insight: when these players do score goals, get assists, or keep clean sheets, you&#8217;re looking at monster scores. More importantly, in weeks where they don&#8217;t deliver the headline stats, you&#8217;re not copping a 2-4 point disaster &#8211; you&#8217;re looking at a solid 6-8 point floor from all their underlying actions.</p>



<p><strong>Important caveats:</strong> This isn&#8217;t every player in the game &#8211; these are the high performers I found based on data from various websites. There are likely some missing from this analysis. Also, AI handled all the calculations for me, so double-check the numbers yourself before making any trades.</p>

<p><strong>James Tarkowski</strong> &#8211; Big fan of this pick, solid as a rock. Whenever Everton get a clean sheet, you are looking at a solid double digit haul. And with West Ham this week (horrid on set pieces), watch Tarkowski jag a headered goal, clean sheet and 20+ points. Can guarantee it if I cannot bring him in.</p>



<p><strong>Emmanuel Agbadou</strong> &#8211; If only Wolves weren&#8217;t so bad&#8230; He&#8217;s lost 14 points due to goals conceded, but the fixtures do turn after Spurs. He isn&#8217;t a season keeper, but could rocket in price if they manage to get their act together and have an easy run.</p>



<p><strong>Marcos Senesi</strong> &#8211; I think it is too late, but wow I am jealous of anyone who got on him before the rises. Well played, wouldn&#8217;t judge you for still jumping on.</p>



<p><strong>Virgil van Dijk</strong> &#8211; Solid as a rock, should end up in all of our teams. Timing is the hard part.</p>



<p><strong>Tyrick Mitchell</strong> &#8211; This took me by surprise, I was expecting Richards or Lacroix, but Mitchell topped them both. Scores of 12,5,13,13,19 &#8211; What on earth. Not for me with Liverpool this week.</p>

<p><strong>Trevoh Chalobah</strong> &#8211; While I&#8217;m copping Cucurella&#8217;s -1, this man is pumping out 4x double digit hauls, with a 7 his lowest&#8230; His price is inflated by 2x goals, but when it drops back to reality could be a shout.</p>



<p><strong>Hugo Bueno</strong> &#8211; Wolves.</p>



<p><strong>Quilindschy Hartman</strong> &#8211; Been the pick of the Burnley defenders, I just don&#8217;t trust them to keep clean sheets. Pass from me.</p>



<p><strong>Matthijs de Ligt</strong> &#8211; Good stats for if Man U can start to be more rock solid at the back. Big if though.</p>



<p><strong>Matty Cash</strong> &#8211; -7 breakeven, Fulham and Burnley in the next two, team can&#8217;t score so have to keep clean sheets to get points&#8230; I can&#8217;t do it with Spurs, City and Liverpool from 8-10, but a good cash (pardon the pun) play.</p>



<p><strong>Nordil Mukiele</strong> &#8211; Here is your roughie, forget Ballard, Mukiele is the man. Averaging more base stats per game than Senesi, and Sunderland look better than expected at the back (have had easy fixtures though). Love this pick, but a brave one.</p>

<p><strong>Mohammed Kudus</strong> &#8211; The only forward I found with these numbers, and they&#8217;re seriously impressive. Base stats higher than Caicedo?! This has rocketed him up my forward rankings &#8211; just need to decide whether to go higher up to Salah or Semenyo.</p>



<p><strong>Moisés Caicedo</strong> &#8211; Despite bagging two goals (a lot for him), is he still underpriced? Seven-point floor with those fixtures after Liverpool looking good. How do only 21.5% of teams own him? Must be all elite managers.</p>



<p><strong>Saša Lukić</strong> &#8211; Who? Right, takes corners for Fulham and has decent attacking numbers plus these base stats. Won&#8217;t be buying him &#8211; loves a yellow card &#8211; but one to keep an eye on.</p>



<p><strong>Elliot Anderson</strong> &#8211; Like this pick but want to see how he goes under Ange. Played more as a 10 midweek (not a bad spot in an Ange system) &#8211; question is whether it impacts his base stats. Wait and see.</p>

<p><strong>James Garner</strong> &#8211; Can&#8217;t justify a third Everton mid, but these numbers are genuinely impressive.</p>



<p><strong>Anton Stach</strong> &#8211; Two weeks ago I wrote: &#8220;Strong attacking data without the goals or assists yet. Not urgent but can see him doing well through this run.&#8221; Well, he&#8217;s just smashed Wolves for 24 points and risen £1.8m. Should&#8217;ve trusted my gut with those fixtures.</p>



<p><strong>Bruno Fernandes</strong> &#8211; Solid base stats, on penalties &#8211; I don&#8217;t get the hate. Well I do, his pens are shocking, but he&#8217;s a decent pick. Midfield&#8217;s tough to populate and he&#8217;s worth the money.</p>



<p><strong>Granit Xhaka</strong> &#8211; Bought him last week purely on these stats. Expecting a steady stream of 8-pointers. Wouldn&#8217;t buy now as his price is levelling out, but he&#8217;s exactly what base stats are all about.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>My Moves This Week</strong></h2>



<p>I need a Palmer replacement &#8211; what a pain he&#8217;s been. Was instinctively looking at Bruno, but this analysis has got me thinking about Caicedo instead. That seven-point floor is appealing, especially if I can get confirmation he&#8217;s fully fit after those niggle concerns early in the week.</p>



<p>Then it&#8217;s either Ballard up in defence or Thiago up front. Would love Tarkowski if I can make the numbers work, but I think Thiago is the priority.</p>



<p>Forward-wise, it&#8217;s between Kudus, Salah, or Semenyo. Kudus&#8217;s base stats make him seriously tempting at that price point.</p>



<p><strong>The key takeaway:</strong> Base stats won&#8217;t pick your team for you, but they&#8217;ll show you which players have genuine floors. In a season where every point matters, that&#8217;s the difference between a decent rank and a disastrous one. Use this data to build your foundation, then pray for the attacking returns on top.</p>
