EPL Supercoach Final Word | Gameweek 10 trades, fixtures, captains

I’m very happy with my round, considering I held Pedro and Szobo. I scored 136, which gave me a weekly rank of 345 and moved my overall rank up to 537.

Rising!

Bringing in Rice was good timing. The triple Arsenal defence was lucky (thanks VAR), and Silva was an easy choice.

Arsenal: It’s an Arsenal week, look at those odds. It doesn’t get more one-sided than this. Watch it turn into a 1-1 draw now I’ve talked it up.

Everton: Clean sheet odds are solid, good time to grab Tarkowski.

Liverpool: Palace are shocking defensively, and I’m glad I’m an Isak owner. Load up this week.

Trade ins

James Garner (£6.77m) Thanks to Max Bryden for the tip to look into him. Big Bash SuperCoach starts soon, check out Max’s articles on the site! Garner played limited minutes over the first 3 weeks, which is why he’s a bargain price. His base stats are slightly lower than last year (1 less), but he should be a stable pick at a good price.

Bruno Fernandes (£7.76m) Am I confident with this? No way. But Bruno is close to bottoming out. His floor has been lower than I would have thought, so there is risk. But if United ever turn it around, Bruno will be involved. He had a goal and an assist midweek against Roma. Get on before the haul?

Martin Ødegaard (£6.21m) Hull fixture, simple as that. He averaged 12.3 over the first 4 weeks and has had a dry spell since, but he’s been unlucky not to have had some attacking stats. How many Arsenal can you have though?

Declan Rice (£11.83m) No goals so far this season, but he’s racking up assists. Hull fixture, tick. Top scoring mid for the season, tick. Expensive though…

Mateus Fernandes (£4.09m) Plenty of risk on this pick, but he’s scored 6 and 9 since he started playing 90 minutes and was one of the players of the game against Palace. He’s cheap, so obviously a lot of risk. But are any of the mids convincing?

James Tarkowski (£9.89m) The top base stat scorer in the game at 6.4 per fixture. That’s the highest floor you can get. Not the flashiest pick, but you can’t go wrong at an affordable price.

Jérémy Jacquet (£8.54m) or Virgil van Dijk (£8.28m) Liverpool’s fixtures are clearing up and they’re looking good defensively. Jacquet scores about a point per game more on base stats, but I feel VVD is due a header goal soon, and an easy fixture with Palace is the perfect timing.

Trade outs

Jordan Henderson (£9.96m) I’m sure many sold last round, but if you held while he wasn’t playing, you didn’t lose any money. He’s made you the cash. Swap him to Rice like I did last week. Easy!

Harvey Barnes (£8.93m) Newcastle are not performing well, and with Arsenal next week you have to jump off next week or now. I’m going now.

Stephen Mfuni (£6.39m) Like Henderson, he’s made you his money. Jump off before he loses it.

Jack Hinshelwood (£7.6m) If he starts, I’d hold. Brighton have gone through their 2 hard games and their attacking upside is massive. But I’m not convinced on his minutes, and you can’t keep him if he’s on the bench for a third week in a row.

Rayan Cherki (£10.13m) Sell, reluctantly. The man is a baller and looks like getting points whenever he touches it. But the manager is not happy, dragging him off early when he starts. You can’t ride that roller coaster. I’d swap him for someone with guaranteed minutes. Just know you’ll see him haul as soon as you jump off.

My planned moves

Barnes > Ødegaard / Bruno / Garner

Mfuni > Tarkowski / Jacquet

My initial move was Ødegaard and Tarkowski, for the Hull fixture and Tarkowski’s base stats. But I’m also strongly considering Garner and Jacquet. I’m not sure I want double Everton, and Liverpool is definitely a stronger defence. I hate paying 8m for someone others got for 4, but I need to take that out of my head.

Captains

VC:

Rice, Gabriel and Calafiori: the VC has to be an Arsenal guy. Rice will score well, but what’s the upside? Gabriel gets the clean sheet for sure, with a header as the bonus. Calafiori had a rest midweek and has the highest upside for me.

C:

Haaland: the only guaranteed City starter.

Isak: easy Palace fixture.

Boring says Gabriel into Haaland. Upside says Calafiori into Isak. I’m confident with Haaland or Isak, so take the risk with the VC. I’m leaning towards Calafiori.
