Spy Talk | Trading now vs Holding for chaos


<p>After the debacle of the week previous last round saw a bit of the bleeding stop for Spy’s very own ‘Cheers’ squad but still a drop from the low 400s into 550. </p>



<p>I have no choice but to turn it around now and get momentum back in the right direction if I want to try and get into the top 100. With a plethora of injuries around the league and some NRL teams starting to run on empty as we approach the back end of the season opportunities are sure to arise.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Trade Now or Hold</strong></h2>



<p>With that being said it is noted that trades are getting low for many so I am of a mind to really only make a trade in the coming few weeks if it has near guaranteed benefit and/or mitigate the risk of someone going 150+ who I don’t own. </p>



<p><strong>Hughes</strong> to <strong>Cleary</strong> makes perfect sense especially the way Penrith are looking and the fact Nathan took back the kicking tee last week heading into this weeks Titans clash. </p>



<p><strong>Haas</strong> has gone from must own to very good to own with reports of his back injury and general body maintenance. </p>



<p>Outside of that <strong>Hudson Young</strong> continues to go very well and is due a try so I like him but unless your team requires urgent maintenance, then outside of these blokes I think saving some remaining trades could well pay huge dividends in the final month!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Chasing Maxxy Bryden (Or any of your mates)</strong></h2>



<p>Whether its Maxxy B for me or one of your mates who has nudged in front of you in the overall ranks there is a long way to go but it’s getting to crunch time. If you can figure out how many trades your mate has up the sleeve that will help with your plan of attack. </p>



<p>If I want to beat Maxxy for example I know I have 6 trades while he has only 1 after this week. With that in mind the gap in points of 190 could be reeled in very quickly in the final few weeks if Max&#8217;s side was to be hit hard with injuries in shallow positions. </p>



<p>Even without injuries my added trades will hopefully allow at least 1 (if not 2) Superpod moves (A Fullback perhaps in a team fighting for finals against a team who are halfway to Bali mentally) Whether this opportunity occurs is purely up to chance but its good to have the option and I would back that opportunities like this will arise. </p>



<p>BUT I still need to ensure I have the players that can hurt me. Max has <strong>Cleary</strong> already who I consider a must this week and then I need Haas (although I could pivot to Huddy Young). This means using 2 trades this week both of which I deem necessary or I risk falling behind. </p>



<p>It can’t all be pods and anti-pods and I still want to finish as high as possible overall and not just focus on a single opponent. Many of you will be in the same boat  and must weight up the priorities whilst those in Head 2 Head leagues can simply play the finals system and make decisions based on your ladder position and whether each week is must win or not.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>My Plans</strong></h2>



<p>As mentioned above <strong>Cleary</strong> will come in and captain the side for me whilst I also have had <strong>Payne Haas</strong> pencilled in for a while now but given the injuries he is carrying I am considered <strong>Hudson Young</strong> instead and then I’m happy to use a trade on Payne next week providing he looks himself. </p>



<p>If not I will save that trade. That will leave either 4 or 3 trades remaining which can hopefully be held until the final 4 rounds.</p>



<p>I am conscious the Tigers have a bye next week also so I will be down 1 front rower if I opt for no <strong>Haas</strong> and with <strong>Tino</strong> (who I am currently holding) but may just take an AE that week and activate a free Vice Captain loop. Again this decision will depend on my extended bench and how Haas goes this weekend should I choose to prioritise H Young.</p>



<p>The other option is to simply grab <strong>Haas</strong> now and sit at 4 trades but we shall see.</p>



<p>Vice Captain probably <strong>Herbie</strong> on Friday night at this stage.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Final Thoughts</strong></h2>



<p>I will add in that for some Coaches, going on the all out attack may be the correct option. </p>



<p>If you are chasing rank and want to bet on the final weeks of the season being somewhat chaos free or you are in a Head to Head league and desperately need wins then by all mean trade hard. </p>



<p>It’s just my personally opinion that if you are generally happy with your team then you could reap some serious rewards by being patient right about now. You might bring in Hudson Young who averages 75-80ppg but in doing so be forced not to play someone who can average 70ppg. </p>



<p>This isn’t worth the trade and net gain as it may only work out to be 5-10 points per week whereas Hudson over a bloke averaging 40ppg is huge!</p>



<p>All always each team is different and everyone plays the game differently so do want to need to do and most of all make sure you are enjoying it!</p>
