First of all, what a bloody pleasure it was meeting everyone at Magic Round. 



I couldn’t have enjoyed Friday arvo anymore then I did.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">MAGIC ROUND SCORING</h3>



It was of course an all time weekend as usual and in case you missed it the final Supercoach Points are shown below, noting that the winner took it to Golden Point to secure this year&#8217;s title. 



Credit where due to Clementine, who really stood up when the pressure was on to crack the elusive double ton. 



To be fair, every skipper&#8217;s score would be worth taking, but some just delivered a little more on a weekend that can separate the top-tier elite from the very good.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">BACK TO THE FOOTY</h3>



Onto the real footy now, and it’s a really interesting period of the season where the byes start to creep up on us. 



I have consciously said this season that I wasn’t going to get caught up in them and I haven’t at all until now. 



However, there are only 2 rounds now until the first major bye round, so it’s a great time to do a bit of a team audit if you haven’t already, just to make sure you are in the ballpark for bye round numbers or if you need to make some really specifics moves. 



As I often do, I will use my own team as an example and will show you exactly what I do to determine how I am tracking and if I am happy with things.



Firstly, you can use the below tool (you may need SC Gold) or you can count your own numbers –

Round 12 team below (13 scoring players only) – I will mark down 1 of Horsburgh / Olakau’atu for Origin purely as an estimate as it could be none or both. Cleary will be play and likely Ponga.



That gives me 12 players at the moment (Preston is out), which is one off the amount of players that count toward your score in round 12. 



I am happy to add 1 or 2 more to the side to make it 14, but anymore seems like possible overkill unless they benefit me in the later bye rounds.



But as it stands, I’m giving a solid tick to round 12.

We can see way more players are available and I will have 21 if I exclude Simpkins &amp; Royce Hunt. 



Origin players still have to back up otherwise, a trade may be required that week; however I will likely already have added in Garrick/Drinkwater and co to strengthen this round. 



For now, it’s a tick for Round 13 based on current numbers.

Round 15 team below (13 scoring players only)



This round only gives me 10 quality/decent players at this current stage (If Olakau’atu plays Origin, I’m one less), so it’s an immediate flag, and I need to give this some attention either now or in the rounds leading into it. 



Nothing dramatic, just good to know that as it stands, I’m a few down as it is a top 13 players only week.

Round 16 Team below (Normal scoring round)



Now this is a round that looks tricky. 



A full 17 is required, and as it stands, I have 18 locked in players including possible Origin players Haas, May, Tino, Horsburgh, Cleary, Munster &amp; Ponga, who would need to backup to count for me. 



BIG FLAG! This appears to be the toughest round of them all, and I’ll look to add in guys who play Rounds 15 &amp; 16 for coverage or getting to round 16 and then trading in guys who play rounds 16 &amp; 18.

I am currently looking at 8 players (9 with Royce) so again a bit of work to do and it looks like my main byes targets needs to revolve around 15, 16 &amp; 18.

A reminder that this is the third and final round, where only 13 players&#8217; scores will count. 



Rounds 12, 15 &amp; 18 are the relevant rounds prior to Origin.

I have 19 regulars pencilled in here with up to 7 backing up from Origin, so again, this could prove tricky if guys are to rest. 



I will aim to add in bye players who give me coverage here also.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Sum Up</h3>



So based on the above, this is how my side looks for each bye round pre-trades this week with Jacob Preston excluded as I will trade him this week and add in that player to my projections below:



Round 12 – Currently 12 players out of 13 required/scoring for that week 



Round 13 – Currently 21 players out of 17 who will score for that week (Origin players may not back up so we must be wary but it looks ok)



Round 15 – Currently 10 players maximum out of 13 required/scoring for that week



Round 16 &#8211; Currently 18 players out of 17 who will score for that week (Origin players may not back up so this is a major flag round where its look dangerous) Players needed!



Round 18 &#8211; Currently 8 players out of 13 required/scoring for that week &#8211; Players needed!



Round 19 &#8211; Currently 19 players out of 17 who will score for that week (Origin players may not back up so again we must be wary but it looks ok)



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Trades Needed</h3>



I am going to focus on rounds 15, 16 &amp; 18 where I am definitely short as it stands. 



Round 12 and 13 I am going ok, so I don’t need to concentrate as hard on these rounds and instead can bring in players who will help me in the later buys. 



Scotty Drinkwater looks absolutely perfect as he misses round 12, then plays the rest and it also means Purdue perhaps is a hold! 



A bit to work out here, but now that I know my projected number of players each bye round, it’s easier to do, as every trade I make, I can check how my bye round numbers update



I will also try to cover as many tricky rounds as possible in one move, where possible, but can split the bye into rounds 12-15 &amp; 16-19 if necessary.
