<p>The darkest day has finally come. Spy has broken the curse. </p>



<p>For the first time ever, he has beaten me in a H2H in the SC Playbook league, a record I have proudly held for almost three seasons now.</p>



<p>So, a big congratulations must go to Spy on winning this hoodoo-breaking battle.</p>



<p>262 points for me to claw back to win the war.</p>



<p>In other news, I was today year’s old when I realised there was a Thursday night game this round. All week I’ve thought Round 19 kicked off on Friday.</p>



<p>And it’s now 3.04pm and I don’t know whether to be excited there’s something decent to watch tonight, or anxious that I do not, in fact, have 24 hours to painstakingly work out who I am going to trade in.</p>



<p>Now let us move on to a quick celebration because we actually got last week’s Captain correct, and it was that absolute King of SuperCoach 2024, <strong>James Tedesc</strong>o. </p>



<p>Those who went <strong>Latrell</strong> would have felt like the cat who got the cream at the beginning of the round…but those who stuck true to vintage Teddy ultimately came out on top with 298 delicious Captaincy points…</p>



<p>But there’s no Teddy to confidently Captain this week because of the bye, and all our usual suspects are pretty much missing too, and so we must look elsewhere for our Captains.&nbsp;</p>



<p>And this week because I’m under the pump here to smash this out AND make Spy-beating trades on my lunch break (I felt like the kid whose dog ate his homework when I messaged the OverLord before to tell him I didn’t realise there was a game tonight), let us firstly turn to the great man himself, and ask him his thoughts:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size"><strong>Spy’s Captains of the Week </strong></h3>



<p>Which involved four short 5-second voice notes and surprisingly none of the 5-minute ones, which spoke volumes of his confidence and they were:</p>

<li>“VC or C, <strong>Jayden Campbell</strong>”</li>



<li>“VC or C, <strong>David Fifita</strong> as a bit of a safer option”</li>



<li>“Whoever plays fullback for the Titans &#8211; VC or C”</li>



<li>“I’m not keen on anyone on Thursday or Friday overly. So probably going to be a VC on those blokes mentioned which means a C would need to be a <strong>Garrick</strong> or <strong>Olakau’atu</strong>”</li>
</ul>



<p>And that is it. </p>



<p>Apologies to anyone hoping to find out more salacious titbits of knowledge such as where he purchases his winter robes and ugg boots (Peter Alexander and Kmart)…but what we can take from this is that a number of Titans have caught his eye, and dare I say it, his ‘boy’ Scotty D better watch out because it seems like there’s some contenders in the wings ready to take his place.</p>



<p>Woman’s Day worthy indeed.</p>



<p>So let us quickly break down some more and we’ll start with the VC’s with a quick reminder that most of us will have a free loop this round with our decimated bye-round numbers, so consider that a glass half full and go a bit rogue if we like – if you went<strong> Jacob Gagai</strong> last week and didn’t leave him on the NPRs like yours truly, you’d have been blessed with 106 beautiful points (and beaten Spy – yeah, yeah…shoulda, coulda, woulda…Captain Hindsight).</p>



<p>But unless you have a crystal ball – all the players in the Thursday/Friday game are hugely risky so Vice-Captain only if you dare:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size"><strong>Dolphins vs Rabbitohs</strong></h3>



<p>You could go <strong>Cody Walker</strong> here as a VC – but a 3-round average of 58 might put you off. </p>



<p>He did score a 106 last time he played them in Round 7 of last year, and the SuperCoach app tells me they’ve conceded 77 points on average to the last four right-side playmakers… but the jury’s out on this one because if he throws his toys out the cot at any point in the game.</p>



<p>On the flip side you could go <strong>Isaako</strong>. </p>



<p>But after a few promising tons earlier in the year, he’s only boasting a 3-round average of 60. </p>



<p>VC at your own risk. </p>



<p>If he crosses for a couple of tries you’re laughing …and if he doesn’t? </p>



<p>Well, you’re praying for some Isaako junk-time goodness which is never a fun ride…</p>

<p>This was the game we all had Nicho for and now we do not have Nicho and we wish you well on your recovery our beautiful Wet Haired Prince. </p>



<p>Thank you for gracing us this season with your stunning wet locks. </p>



<p>So now we have no nice things and a stock pile of V05 taking up all the space in our bathroom cupboards… and instead we must now think about a Vice Captaincy on players such as <strong>Mulitalo</strong> who scored a not-so promising 31 last week (condolences to everyone who traded him in) and boasts a less than impressive 3-round average of 43. </p>



<p>Maybe this week’s HIS week. </p>



<p>If you want a nice safe 70 – 80 points you may VC <strong>Nikora</strong>, except without Nicho we can’t count on that either…NO NICE THINGS.</p>



<p>Over on the other team, owners of <strong>Api Koroisau</strong> will be tempted to pop a sneaky VC on him. </p>



<p>A 3-round average of 82, coming off a ton a couple of weeks ago (followed by a less desirable 24) and scoring a 105 last time he played the Sharks back in Round 3 all bodes well for a sneaky Api-ton. </p>



<p>Who would win in a fight between a Shark and a Tiger? Well, check the weather – it’s supposed to be sunny tomorrow – and a Tiger would most definitely beat a Shark on dry land…be confident Tiger’s fans.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size"><strong>Titans vs Eels</strong></h3>



<p>Spy’s already covered us here with his new ‘boys’ – the great GC Titans – but let’s just look a little closer…</p>



<p>And if you want a nice safe VC this round it is surely that Origin-snubbed point-scoring machine, the one who’s been keeping us in raptures all season, our favourite shag, big <strong>David Fifita</strong>. </p>



<p>A 3-round average of 72, a whole bunch of 80s and 90s in his season scores, an Origin-snubbing point to prove – he’s one of the safest VCs and even Captain of the round.</p>



<p>Of course we must consider <strong>Jayden Campbell</strong>. </p>



<p>A 3-round average of 107, including an incredible 170 points vs the Warriors at CBUS back in Round 16 – he is absolutely a must-consider as at least a VC this round.</p>



<p>And then whoever plays Fullback – take Spy’s word for it and just VC him if you own.</p>



<p>Over on the Eels side – you could maybe consider a VC on <strong>Dylan Brown</strong>, except with a 3-round average of 66 and no tons to save himself this season, I’d rather go a rogue VC on a rogue winger in any of these first 3 games.</p>



<p>Or you can consider a VC on the great <strong>Clint Gutherson</strong>. </p>



<p>The Titans have leaked 70 points to the last four fullbacks they’ve faced (thanks SC notes for making me look insightful here) and he is coming off an 80 last week in their thumping by the Bunnies.</p>

<p>I cannot even contemplate who you would VC in this let alone confidently Captain. </p>

<p>Maybe chuck a Hail Mary on <strong>Willison</strong> and hope he crosses over for a couple of rogue tries for you (please do not do this).</p>

<p>A Sunday arvo game at Brookie. Up on the hill with a beer and a chip on a stick. </p>



<p>Is there anything better? Stunning times! </p>



<p>Of course, our Captains are in this game!</p>



<p>And we’ll start with <strong>Garrick</strong>.</p>



<p>A 3-round average of 58 might put you off but that includes that HIA-affected game back in Round 15. </p>



<p>A bunch of 90s this season, a handful of tons… and Garrick bodes well as one of the safest Captaincy options this week. </p>



<p>He just racks up points out of nowhere. </p>



<p>Non-owners, be afraid…be very afraid.</p>



<p>And of course we cannot look past a rogue Captaincy on <strong>Olakau’atu</strong>. </p>



<p>A 3-round average of 67 but a ton vs the Dragons last time he played at Brookie back in Round 15…consider it at least if you want a bit of risky Sunday fun.</p>



<p>And because we’re so pleased he’s back, and because we love him, if you really want to go super rogue this week – take a massive risk and put on the Captaincy on a freshly-returned, fullback-playing <strong>Tommy T</strong>.</p>

<p>I’ll be captaining <strong>Garrick</strong> with a VC on <strong>David Fifita </strong>(unless I bring in <strong>Jayden Campbell</strong> and give him the VC).</p>
