Spy Talk: Finals time, Round 21


<p>Troops!</p>



<p>Hope you’re all having a good week and your teams are primed for some footy. Its run home time &amp; also Head 2 Head finals! After a lean 3 weeks where I dropped from 1000<sup>th</sup> (and surging I thought) to 4000<sup>th</sup> confidence is down, and I tell you what I’d love a bounce back week and a finals win in my 1 cash league!</p>



<p>I will also drop my captaincy choices along with a what I consider I very good same game multi in terms of value plus some H2H tactics I like to use &#8211;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Manly</strong></h2>



<p>Firstly, put a line through Manlys last two weeks. Last week we all know about and having seven players out of a team is just tough going, whilst the week before they were beaten in saturated conditions by a fired-up Saints team when Benny Turbo got knocked out early (yes, I played him!) and Olakau’atu got hurt about 15 in and limped through the last 65 or so as a result of a decimated bench. This has coincided with me bringing in Garrick. Ouch! But I feel things will start to open up a bit from here on in and I’m back on the Garrick – DCE &#8211; Ola train. Parra could still be a test this week, but they can concede points and next week they have the Titans where they could explode!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>David Fifita</strong></h2>



<p>How incredible frustrating to watch. I won’t get into it, but I will note that he managed to get 50 last week while getting next to zero ball and missing a bunch of tackles when he got tired. Forgot who it is and you a very bad 50 is still 50. Add some more runs (hopefully) and the tackle busts, offloads and attack that comes with that, and he could get back to 3 weeks ago where he scored 75 against Brisbane without a try, line or assist. He could easily score or set one up and put up a big score! Now that doesn’t mean you can’t sit him for an upside guy elsewhere in your squad but don’t just do it out of pure frustration because he could and likely will score well anytime now. If not, he won’t be at the Titans much longer…. Perhaps!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Penrith Boys</strong></h2>



<p>It’s a bit of an unknown now with Penrith as they haven’t played without Luai and Cleary very often in non-Origin effected games. They facts are though that the rest of their squad is intact which consists of a dominant forward pact plus Kikau on an edge and Sullivan who has shown he can slot well into the system. This could still mean points are coming. I don’t see the left edge being affected to much (Kikau/Tago/May) whilst the right edge is a bit of an unknown, but I’ll play To’o for this week at least to see how things pan out plus his base is amazing so there is safety in that. Out of anyone, I think he is the sit more than May; but anything could happen, and this week is telling.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Head-to-Head Tactics</strong></h2>



<p>I love a good H2H tactic during crunch games. Starting with a different captain, changing it just before kick-off. Maybe changing it to another player you don’t intent to captain about an hour from kick off is good before changing again a few minutes out from kick off to your real skipper. Just make sure you know the cut-off time!</p>



<p>If you want, you could even pick a different bench before reverting it back to your preferred options before each kick off. That way it’s harder for your opponent to figure out who’s winning the battle as the weekend goes on.</p>



<p>You could escalate it a level this year and even do a dummy trade or 2 before amending it to your preferred target! Just make sure you know how to do this under the amend/undo trade button.</p>



<p>If you are a clear favourite, it makes sense to match the oppositions captain, whilst if you need a hail mary a good chance to catch up is to go a different skipper!</p>



<p>The final one is to save a trade if needed and use it on Sunday if you need a get of a jail free swing! Make sure there is a trade you will be able to do (need both players to have not played) and go for it if you are about to be knocked out and need a real hail mary.</p>



<p>Of course, you could also just pick a team and skipper from the start of the round and see how it plays out! Real life doesn’t always allow these tactics depending on how busy you are across the weekend!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Skippers &amp; Trades</strong></h2>



<p>This week I was looking at Cleary -&gt; DCE, but I think I’ll wait a week on that and opt for Taulagi –&gt; Cam Murray. For whatever reason the Cowboys are getting much footy to the left wing at the moment and doing damage elsewhere so I’m flicking my Superpod (what a letdown) for Mr Reliable the great man C Murray!</p>



<p>Second trade will be Sivo -&gt; Douiehi. My other man crush so why not get them both in to get me through troubled waters. Sivo is a fine hold but with his lack of base (Maybe scores 50 with a try) and wingers letting me down lately I’m opting for AD who has been incredible for me in the past and gets a shell of itself Knights team as it stands.</p>



<p>That’s leaves Cleary-DCE next week before the Titans clash providing his ticks the right boxes.</p>



<p>VC on Munster and Skipper Nicho Hynes!</p>



<p>Garrick, Doueihi, Harry Grant, Cam Murray, Trell, AJ, Drinkwater, Holmes all options this week its wide open which is good!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Punt Play</strong></h2>



<p>There are a couple of very juicy odds for anytime try scorers this weekend. Haumole Olakau’atu is at $3.10 anytime try scorer. He had scored in 4 of his last 5 matches prior to the Saints game!</p>



<p>Shaun Lane is also due and is always around the mark and he is at $4.50. Huge odds! Admittedly he hasn’t score for a while and had turned provider but at those odds I like him at some stage in the coming weeks.</p>



<p>Same game Multi for that one is at around $13-1 with a boost. Maybe add in Sivo to double it if we are talking a hailmary play! May the points rain at Brookie Oval!!</p>
