NFL Supercoach Final Word | Trades, Captains, and PODs Week 4

It seems like yesterday we were in Melbourne kicking off the NFL season and yet some how we’re already one game into Week 4!

There was more injury chaos last week, with Justin Jefferson, Jalen Coker, Breece Hall and De’Von Achane all going down.

Coker in particularly hurts, as I brought him in last minute due to his negative breakeven and strong start to the season.

Well, it was a strong start to the season… Until the injury.

His injury-affected score of 5 means his BE has jumped all the way up to 29. Not ideal.

This of course means he could lose money if he plays this week, and I wouldn’t blame you if you did want to sell.

As I just brought him in, and I’m trying to be a bit more trade savvy, I’ll be holding and hoping he hits his BE, if he plays.

And I’m hoping he does, as the Panthers face a Detroit Lions secondary that’s given up the second-most passing yards in the League.

The other player I’ll be holding is Justin Jefferson.

Jefferson sounds a bit more doubtful this week, but there’s no need to panic if he misses a week due to his ankle injury.

I see Jefferson as a season-long hold. He started last week hot and was on track for a big game before going down injured.

He’s one of the best receivers in the League and selling him for $13 million doesn’t seem worth it.

I guarantee in the long run he will be worth a lot more than that. Yes, his BE is 40, but a bit of short-term pain is worth it for the long-term gain.

Those are the players I’m holding, but I will be making one trade this week. Let’s get into it…

Embed from Getty Images

Week 4 Trade Plans

I didn’t intend on trading Isaiah Likely this early in the season but unfortunately plans change.

Likely looked set for a huge season and he was one of my favourite cheapies to start the season. The problem is, he’s lost his quarterback.

Jaxson Dart is out for the season and this is horrible news for Likely owners. Jameis Winston is now the starting QB in New York and as much as I love the guy, he’s nowhere near the quality of Dart.

In his first start last week, the Giants only managed 12 points against the struggling Tennessee Titans. Winston threw for just 118 yards and Likely only had two receptions for 13 yards.

It’s clear the Giants are going to struggle offensively moving forward and I’m very keen to trade Likely before he starts losing money.

His BE is up to 21 and I don’t think he will get near that this week. It’s disappointing because his Week 1 score of 47 is the type of production I was expecting. Instead we’ve had back-to-back scores of 11 and 4.

Luckily, there’s another option at TE that looks really promising and is heading in the other direction.

Kenyon Sadiq is only $6,990,000 and looks set to make plenty of money. The Jets rookie had a breakout game last week, scoring an eye-catching 40 points.

He had eight targets, seven receptions, 105 yards and scored a touchdown. A huge game that should give him plenty of confidence for the weeks ahead.

This is the week to buy him, with his BE of -12 meaning his price could go up by $2 million+ if he puts together another strong performance in Week 4.

Embed from Getty Images

Week 4 Captaincy Plans

Josh Allen, Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba… There’s plenty of good captaincy options this week.

I’ve been umming and ahhing who to put the C on and I think I’m going to play it safe and stick with Josh Allen.

Allen and the Bills come up against a Patriots side that is down bad… The Pats have looked nothing like the team that went to the Super Bowl last season and we all know how good Josh Allen can be at home.

He’s simply the most reliable option and I just don’t trust the others enough to put the C on them.

Even last week Allen had a relatively average performance and he still scored a respectable 37. It says a lot that he can score 37 and it’s seen as a disappointing return.

All signs point to a bounce-back game this week. He’s the highest-scoring player in Supercoach, averages 46 points per game at Highmark Stadium, and is playing one of his biggest rivals. Look for Allen to go big.

Embed from Getty Images

Week 4 PODS

Tyler Shough (QB) $23,240,000 – 1.1 % owned

I wrote about him last week but I have to put Tyler Shough in here again. He’s still only owned by 1.1% of coaches and he just keeps getting it done.

Only Brock Purdy and Josh Allen are averaging more at quarterback, and Shough comes at a fraction of the price.

It makes him the perfect replacement for Caleb Williams, who is confirmed to miss the next 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury.

You don’t need to break the bank, he’ll continue to make money, and he’s shown no signs of slowing down. If anything, he’s getting better.

He threw for four touchdowns last week and he’s going to continue to sling it. He has more pass attempts per game than any other quarterback and he’s such a fun guy to watch.

If I needed a quarterback this week, he’s the guy I’d be bringing in.

Minnesota Vikings (DEF) – $12,040,000 – 1% owned

Yes I’m putting a defence in here but only because they’re so much better than every other option!

The Vikings have 4+ sacks and 2+ takeaways in each of their first three games, and they’re every chance of keeping that streak going in Week 4.

They face a terrible Miami Dolphins team this week and the 1% of coaches who own them will be licking their lips.

If you want to join these coaches, then you better trade in the Vikings D this week. They’ve already made $2 million this season and their BE of -11 means they’ll continue to skyrocket in price.

This might be the last week you can afford them.
