NRL Supercoach 2026 Round 27 Wrap + Season Awards


<p>And breathe a sigh of relief! </p>



<p>Supercoach for 2026 is all but a stat line, and all I can say is.. Where did that season go?!</p>



<p>I distinctly remember vice-captaining Fletcher Sharpe in Vegas against the Cowboys, and 15 minutes in, I wondered how I was going to spend my $50k. </p>



<p>10 minutes later, he hurt his knee, and my season never recovered from there&#8230;</p>



<p>But we keep going, and that dream of landing in the top 1000, 100, or top 10 still burns bright, and we will all be back for 2027!</p>



<p>Koula thank Kaeo will be undergoing a name change for 2027, but finished round 27 with 1294 and in 30691 overall.</p>



<p>BUT.. I am just waiting on Supercoach to ratify the winners; I’m hearing that 30,690 Supercoaches above me have multiple teams or are under the age limit and are going to be suspended&#8230;so I hold onto hope.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1. Coby Blackbook</strong></h3>



<p>Whoever you had in mind for season 2027, rub their name out, scrunch it up, and toss it in the bin; the only name you need to remember is Coby Black!</p>



<p>Has been toiling away in NSW Cup and had a breakout game for the Raiders on Saturday afternoon, absolutely braining the Cowboys, finishing with a record amount of points on debut – 26 and a 138 Supercoach points to go with it!</p>



<p>The fake kick, then run and kick to set up Ethan Strange was as good a play I have seen. </p>



<p>The awareness, skill, and confidence to do that 60 minutes into your debut game for the club is something special. Must have learnt from the great Sammy Williams how to come into a Raiders side in Round 27 and kill it!</p>



<p>Ethan Sanders probably turned the TV off by then and rang his manager.</p>



<p>He will be first picked at HLF next year, should Ricky blood pick him, and I am looking forward to everyone owning him. </p>



<p>It will work out only 2 ways – he makes $500k for us, or he becomes the 2027 version of Daniel Atkinson/Jonah Pezet.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2. Milkman delivers one final time</strong></h3>



<p>I sit here sometimes and wonder why all year I couldn’t make up ground on the leaders&#8230;</p>



<p>Then realise I never owned Latrell (until Friday), Sua, and tried outsmarting the Panthers&#8217; left edge.</p>



<p>Tom Jenkins soared above the rest on Sunday, scoring a very comforting 134 in the final game of the season to end his year with an average of 83 and 8 games of 100+!</p>



<p>His early-season try-scoring form was Rhys Wesseresque from the original Rugby League PlayStation game, bagging 16 tries in his first 7 games. </p>



<p>He had a lean period and only managed 5 tries in his last 7 games, but that’s the expectation we put on him. </p>



<p>The Panthers in some weeks decided to shift right, meaning he was starved of good early ball. </p>

<p>His double against the Tigers included a try assist, and Casey McLean inside him finished with 178&#8230;So if ol’ glue hands McLean passed a couple of times, or Edwards wasn’t so selfish, we could have been looking at 150+.</p>



<p>Joined AJ as the game&#8217;s leading try scorer to finish the year with 30, and if we are being honest, it&#8217;s about 7 short of what he should have finished with.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>3. Latrell is him</strong></h3>



<p>Well, it was nice to finally see what all the fuss was about early in the year!</p>



<p>It took me 27 rounds, but I can finally say I am a Latrell owner. We play in a keeper league where I get to keep him for next year off the salary cap.</p>

<p>For those with 1 or 2 trades left, he was a glaringly obvious trade-in. Back in the starting side, the Roosters&#8217; edge comprising children and a man needing some game time, he had a typical Latrell game, chiming in when he needed to with some moments of brilliance, but probably left 25 points out there.</p>



<p>His 112 was a welcome sight as a VC option, but just having him in my side was a sight to behold.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Looking back, he really was the talisman for Season 2026. </p>



<p>Start with him, and you have a mountain of points, and effectively 2 free trades with the money he made. </p>



<p>Plus the fact that he was ruled out before he played, meaning he lost you no money and gave all owners a leg up on the rest of us. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>4. Sua </strong></h3>



<p>What to make of the year form one of the best?</p>



<p>Seemed destined to be a million-dollar player, with signs early on that he was going to light up season 2026. </p>



<p>His 4-try romp in round 2 against the Dragons sent alarm bells ringing for non-owners who scrambled to bring him in&#8230;then he sort of hit the skids, but didn’t crash and burn like I predicted.</p>



<p>He kept bobbing up with a try or linebreak; such was his style of play. He was durable, and everything you could have asked for in a 511k starting player.</p>



<p>He cooled off during the Origin period, but exploded with scores of 107, 107 and 110 in Rounds 21 to 23, right as the Finals were about to start, but in the H2H weeks that mattered, he only managed 73 and 74, including a bye.</p>



<p>It was a tough death ride, and it&#8217;s fair to say he won that battle, and will look even better goalkicking in a Meaneyless Melbourne side in 2027, who will have probably already started preseason training as you are reading this.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>5. Turbo </strong></h3>



<p>96 and 128 to end the year&#8230;Broke the line against the Wahs early in 2021, like fashion, and maintains his incredible run of blowing teams away in the later parts of the year.</p>



<p>Looks like I&#8217;ll be starting with him in season 2027&#8230;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>6. Best and Worst</strong></h3>



<p>In the eyes of mine and mine only, here are my best and worst players/trades of the year, with a SC Playbook twist&#8230;</p>

<p><strong>Tim Williams Award for a big name who looks good early, then went missing when needed the most</strong></p>



<p>Awarded in Honor of our great mate and Supercoach Overload, who has yet to put boots on the ground on a Sunday at Magic Round, awarded to <strong>Latrell Mitchell,</strong> who was on absolute fire early, cruelling any who didn’t own, but come Round 11, those pesky soft tissue injuries flared up, and it was 4 months before we saw him again.</p>



<p><strong>SC Spy Award for talking up a big game</strong></p>



<p>Awarded in honour of the Spy, who loves to talk up a big game and doesn’t let the naysayers get him down. </p>



<p>This is awarded to <strong>Heamasi Maksini</strong>, who, when running over the top of Dylan Edwards in the preseason, found himself in everyone’s team. </p>



<p>He then proceeded to average 38 and had 2 scores over 49 all season. </p>

<p><strong>Dezzie Creek Award for going hard early and holding on</strong></p>



<p>Awarded in honour of Dezzie, who advocates for going hard at the paint early, and then trying to hold on for dear life, awarded to <strong>Kulikefu Finefeuiaki</strong> who, on early-season form, was looking like the number 1 2RF in the game. </p>



<p>Averaging 83 at the close of Round 9 with 3 tries, he didn’t record a single attacking stat since that time, but managed to hold onto an average of 70 with only the 1 score under 53 since Round 11. </p>



<p><strong>Walson Carlos Award for consistency</strong></p>



<p>Awarded in honour of Wals, who year in, year out, is as consistent a Supercoach player as you can get, and the numbers back him up&#8230;Goes to the <strong>Couchman brothers</strong>, who rose to be set and forgets in Season 2026, and will feature in many sides in 2027. </p>



<p>Both will be priced the same, so maybe Supercoach can allow us to pick “A Couchman” and we get a coin toss as to who we own for that round.</p>

<p><strong>Max Bryden Award for the numbers tell a story</strong></p>



<p>Awarded in honour of Maxy Bryden, whose numbers tell one story, but the Rugby League eye tells another.. Awarded to <strong>Keano Kini</strong>, who remarkably finished the season as the 12<sup>th</sup> highest-scoring player in the game, despite only having 3 100+ scores. </p>



<p>He had 16 scores of under 70, but boy, he looked good all year. How he finished with those numbers is barely believable. Played in 24 games and had only 3 tries and 13 TAs </p>



<p><strong>Matty the Waterboy Award for the heavy lifting award</strong></p>



<p>Awarded in honour of Matty the Waterboy, who did all the heavy lifting for the SC Playbook podcast as well as Beers and Breakevens, and despite all the noise, just shows up week in, week out and got better and better&#8230;</p>



<p>Awarded to <strong>Lachlan Galvin</strong>, who has all the signs of a Supercoach star, just finds himself in a halfback pool with Cleary, Hynes and Walker. </p>



<p>Finished the season as the number 3 halfback on points, having a 5RA to end the year of 88. Ran the ball more than a reserve grade 5/8, weighing 120kgs, but just kept showing up and carrying the Dogs side all year. </p>

<p><strong>Clementine Cassidy Award for Champion Player</strong></p>



<p>Awarded in honour of Clem, who finished a remarkable 30<sup>th</sup> overall, and named as our champion player, the winner is <strong>Simi Sasagi!</strong></p>



<p>It just looks good. Scored 100+ in 6 of his 16 games, including a 5-round run of averaging over 100, and finished the year with scores of 110, 111, 113 and 71.</p>



<p>Like Clem, started the year with question marks over their position, but week in, week out continued to show Ricky (And Timmy) who their number 1 gun was and, by season&#8217;s end, cemented themselves as a star. </p>
