EPL Supercoach | One-stop Kop: everything you need to know Gameweek 2


<p>The Premier League is back, and so is the second season of EPL Supercoach.</p>



<p>Gameweek 1 had a little bit of everything, from thrashings to incredible upsets, to late winners and equalisers, and everything in between.</p>



<p>For this season&#8217;s edition of One-stop Kop, we are going for a bit of everything.</p>



<p>Things that caught my eye, injury updates, fixtures to target/avoid, breakevens, most-traded, and captaincy choices.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Gameweek 1 Talking Points</strong></h2>



<p>Starting with some overall team talk. I actually put a message in the subscriber Discord (join up if you haven&#8217;t already!) about a week ago, saying Arsenal are the only team I trust heading into this season, with too much uncertainty surrounding every other team.</p>



<p>Although it was far from a hot take, I think we saw this ring true in the first week.</p>



<p>Arsenal cruised to victory in the opening game of the season, with many of their Supercoach assets looking like reliable picks going forward.</p>



<p>I know it was only Coventry, but we saw both Manchester United and Sunderland lose to the other two promoted sides.</p>



<p>Manchester City scraped a win but looked far from convincing; Liverpool scraped a late draw; Villa and Tottenham got battered; and Chelsea, well, they looked electric going forward, not so much defensively, though.</p>



<p>Obviously, it is only a one-week sample size, and a lot of teams had players out. Expect to learn a lot more about the quality of teams in the coming weeks.</p>

<p>Now for a few individuals that caught my eye:</p>



<p><strong>Cole Palmer</strong>. The best game I have seen him play in a Chelsea jersey in a long, long time. He looks like a must-have long-term; the question is whether to bring him in this week or wait until after the Arsenal fixture in Gameweek 3.</p>



<p><strong>Jack Hinshelwood</strong>. I was lucky enough to start with him as a POD pick (hopefully some of you guys did too). He picked up a brace against a weak Villa outfit, top-scoring for the week. He managed to pick up some great attacking positions, as he should continue to do in that number 10 role.</p>



<p><strong>Maxim De Cuyper.</strong> Another Brighton asset, and I will keep it short. Available in defence, playing left wing, crashing into the box on many occasions. Huge attacking upside for the position.</p>



<p><strong>Nico O&#8217;Reilly. </strong>Played in the number 10 role, which is going to bring huge attacking potential for a defender. Was subbed early for Cherki, who changed the game. Speaking of&#8230;</p>



<p><strong>Rayan Cherki. </strong>Set up both of City&#8217;s goals in his cameo off the bench. He has to start, right? Once he does, he is Supercoach gold. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Availability Watch</strong></h2>



<p>In this section, I will give the latest injury and suspension updates, focusing on the more Supercoach-relevant players. </p>



<p>As always with these things, the information given to the public is not always perfect and can sometimes change quickly.</p>



<p><strong>Bruno Guimarães (ARS): </strong>Managing a calf injury suffered in the Community Shield, progressing well and could return as soon as this week.</p>



<p><strong>Jurriën Timber (ARS):</strong> Returning to training but still a few weeks away from game action, coming back from groin surgery.</p>



<p><strong>João Gomes (AVL):</strong> Suspended for 3 matches after his red card against Brighton.</p>



<p><strong>Johan Manzambi (AVL):</strong> Still recovering from a knee injury at the World Cup, expected back in the coming weeks.</p>



<p><strong>Christian Norgaard (EVT): </strong>Missed last week with a groin injury, expected to return soon.</p>



<p><strong>Jéremey Doku (MCI):</strong> Expected to miss another 1-2 weeks after suffering a calf injury in the Community Shield.</p>



<p><strong>Amad Diallo (MUT):</strong> Missed United&#8217;s season opener with a &#8220;niggle&#8221;, expected to return this week.</p>



<p><strong>Pedro Porro (TOT):</strong> Missed last week due to a lack of match fitness after returning from the World Cup late; should be included in the coming weeks.</p>



<p><strong>Micky van de Ven (TOT):</strong> Missed last week due to a lack of match fitness as he was dealing with a minor injury; should also return soon.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Gameweek 2 Fixture</strong>s</h2>



<p>Gameweek 2 will kick off at 5:00am AEST on Saturday the 29th of August, with Crystal Palace hosting Manchester City.</p>



<p>On paper, the best fixtures to target from both an attacking and defensive POV would be Arsenal vs Villa, United vs Ipswich, and Liverpool vs Forest.</p>



<p>Chelsea vs Brighton looks like a tricky fixture. Attacking assets should still score well, although I would avoid starting any Brighton defenders, and probably any Chelsea ones as well.</p>



<p>Brentford vs Leeds and Tottenham vs Newcastle are both very 50/50 fixtures that I would not be strongly targeting or particularly avoiding.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Breakevens</strong></h2>



<p>Breakevens are the score required for the player to either make money or lose money.</p>



<p>Prices change based on 3-round averages, and therefore there will be NO PRICE RISES THIS WEEK.</p>



<p>Instead, prices will change for the first time after gameweek 3, if a player has played in all 3 games.</p>



<p>When looking at who to trade in, heavily consider the players with low breakevens, as they are likely to rise in price.</p>



<p>Similarly, if you have players with high breakevens in your team, it could be time to consider cutting ties to ensure your team doesn’t lose too much value.</p>
