NRL Supercoach 2026 Round 12 Wrap: 7 Things We Learnt


<p>The board has met and has said they have full faith in me as a Supercoach&#8230;</p>



<p>Worrying signs!</p>



<p>Shocking week where not a thing I had planned for happened, and all my bye prep went out the window!&nbsp;</p>



<p>Traded in Hosking &amp; Ford, which wasn’t all bad, but only had the 12 fit players, and 3 of them started off the bench&#8230;I had one of those weekends where I was better off not looking at my score.</p>



<p>When I did it, it was worse than I thought! Managed only 758, dropping 6700 spots overall into 40348. Disgraceful.</p>



<p>The Magic Round hangover is true, and the next 6 weeks of byes, mini byes, and Origin backups have me shaking in my boots!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1. Sunday Drinks</strong></h3>



<p>Sunday points just hit different! Scotty Drinkwater, with the ideal matchup on Sunday arvo, delivered for a swag of new owners, finishing with 119 points to end the weekend on a high.</p>



<p>He was the pick of the trade-ins this week, with very little to choose from; he stood up, setting up 3 tries and picking up 22 points in offloads and tackle busts.</p>



<p>Brave trade in for those who saw something I didn’t, coming off scores of 53 and 55, the big red flag, though, was the 76 he scored against the Bulldogs 3 weeks back. That included 2 tries and a line break.</p>



<p>Without the goalkicking, it is a risk, but one that can pay off, like this week. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2. We need to talk about Sua</strong></h3>



<p>Death rode him last week in the bowels of Suncorp Stadium, and the ride continues!</p>



<p>Another few more weeks of it, please!</p>



<p>His 4 try effort way back in Round 2 against the Dragons seems an anomaly, with the livewire fullback now having 5 weeks straight of scores under 77. Started the year with a bang, and quickly rose to over 750k, but now, with his run of low scores, it might be time to reconsider his ownership.</p>



<p>Scored only 57 in the wet against the Dogs and had probably one of his better Rugby League games – caught the ball well, defended strongly, and made a lot of runs from his own end. Problem though, they don’t usually account for any Supercoach points. </p>



<p>Incredibly, though, he has scored in all but 3 of his games this year. </p>



<p>Those looking to break away or make some ground could really consider selling him. Roosters this week, then Knights before the Storm&#8217;s first bye, then a 2-week run of games against the Raiders and Manly before their second bye, effectively playing 4 of the next 6 weeks.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>3. TMM Time </strong></h3>



<p>Was trying to think of a clever phrase, but it&#8217;s Monday, so let’s just get straight to the point. </p>



<p>2 tries, 2 contributions, and 2 line breaks. Priced at 235k, with a BE of -95. Do I need to say more?</p>



<p>Backed up last week’s performance with another stunner against the Dragons (A broomstick could score 60 Supercoach points against them) as the most purchased player of the round. </p>



<p>Owners must have seen enough in Brisbane to bring him in, and they were duly rewarded. The question marks over Metcalf and his fitness remain, but he takes on a Panthers side this week – strength to be determined, but if he has jumped Metcalf in the order, then he is a must buy.</p>



<p>5/8 has been, let&#8217;s put it bluntly, an absolute dumpster fire this year, with only Jake Clifford averaging more than 67, so he will be a welcome sight for those still with Atkinson, Pezet, or even Walker.</p>



<p>Bye in Round 14 isn’t great, and there is a risk that after that, Metcalf comes back, but dirt cheap and will make 100k by this time next week. Can’t be any worse than what’s already on offer at 5/8.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>4. Ford cruising along</strong></h3>



<p>It has taken 13 rounds, but I finally have a FRF I can be proud of!</p>



<p>Not saying Paseka, Clarke, Colquhoun, or Willison haven’t given me anything, but they aren’t the type to take back to your parents and introduce them to.</p>



<p>Jackson Ford though!! He is one that you would happily welcome to dinner and hope to introduce to the whole family!</p>



<p>Was on track for a monster B+P score, getting through his usual amount of work in the middle, but a couple of injuries meant he got shifted to an edge where his work rate dipped. He was a popular captaincy choice and whilst he didn’t get to great heights, he still did enough to confirm to owners and new buyers what a supercoach stud he is. </p>



<p>Finished with 72 and will hopefully be back in the middle next week against the Panthers.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>5. Pascoe passes the eye test</strong></h3>



<p>This was meant to be a feel-good paragraph about how good Oliver Pascoe looked for the Titans!</p>



<p>Popped up everywhere, made a thousand tackles, and looks like he loves to run the ball.</p>



<p>Thought, now here’s a guy you would love to own! Easy trade for a Brando Smith or a Hayward for those still with a headache at HOK.</p>



<p>He did, though, come from the field with a Cat 1 HIA, meaning he will miss the next 11 days&#8230;Good news, though, he has a bye, so he will come back swinging for the Titans in Round 14</p>



<p>I don’t have any HOK problems, but if you own someone not named Grant and Brailey, then trade him in. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>6. King Kiraz is back</strong></h3>



<p>Kiraz returns, the Bulldogs win. Surprised?</p>



<p>I wasn’t!</p>



<p>A massive return from the Bulldogs&#8217; favourite son, he starred at fullback, scoring a try and setting one up (I’ve been informed that the try assist to Moses Leo did not count towards any of his Supercoach points) to return with 109 points!</p>



<p>First game back in 4 weeks after a knee injury, he seemed busting to pull the jumper back on and found himself at fullback after Tracey was a late out. Not sure the word on Tracey, whether his hamstring is code for something else, but wouldn’t surprise me to see Kiraz back in the 1 jersey next week.</p>



<p>If that’s the case its buy, buy, buy! Got through a heap of work at the back, including 6 offloads. With the work-rate and Canterbury desperate for wins, he will lift and only increase his floor</p>
