AFL Supercoach | Round 3 Wrap: 7 Things We Learnt


<p>In with the new, out with the new? </p>



<p>That’s the big talking point out of Round 3, with last week’s big buy <strong>Tristan Xerri</strong> now facing three weeks on the sidelines.</p>



<p>At the tribunal, even he was at a loss for words for why and how someone could do something that gross.</p>



<p>Intrusive thoughts aside, wiping your own blood on someone else is — for lack of a better term — absolutely fkd.</p>

<p>What’s also absolutely fkd — and similarly disgustingly obscene — is that I am one of many thousands of coaches who brought in the big ruck fresh off his 199.</p>



<p>But with him pooing it up as captain, my team right now is the living embodiment of sh*t.</p>



<p>Three rounds in, I’ve given up all hope…</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>1. I hate X… and my ex</strong></h3>



<p>In case it wasn’t already made abundantly clear, Xerri has become the second person to ruin my life in the last six months.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Unfortunately, at his price, you can’t just leave him rotting on the bench.</p>



<p>He has to go.</p>



<p>But fortunately, being top dollar, you’ve got the luxury of just about pivoting wherever you want.</p>



<p>They need no introduction. Bont and Gawn are the clear targets for me. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>2. Worrell has arrived </strong></h3>



<p>This was not a game slated for high SuperCoach scores from intercepting defenders.</p>



<p>Despite torrential rain and billowing winds, Josh Worrell proved he’s better than the rest.</p>



<p>A score of 98 — even with five clangers — thanks to 30 touches and five marks, puts him firmly in top 6 discussions.</p>



<p>He’s already pumped out a 116 and 123, and is just $506k.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>3. Options aplenty, fresh off the bye</strong></h3>



<p>No, I’m not talking about the likes of Bont and English coming off their Round 3 bye.</p>



<p>I’m looking further ahead, and I like what I see in a week’s time.</p>



<p>There may be too many players — and some tough decisions will have to be made — but I’m keeping a keen eye on a few bottomed-out premiums.</p>



<p>Lachie Whitfield looks to have put his poor start to the year behind him after falling $50k from his starting price.</p>



<p>Now under $550k, and coming off a 128, Whitfield is my #1 target next week.</p>



<p>Not far behind him, though, is Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, who has dropped $54k.</p>



<p>Both teams have tantalising fixtures coming up — with GWS playing Richmond, North, Essendon and West Coast in their next six games, while the Saints have Port, West Coast, Carlton and Richmond in their next six.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Do you bank a ton of cash this week to try and afford both?</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>4. Stewart might not be dead</strong></h3>



<p>Last year, Tom Stewart looked on the brink of retirement.</p>



<p>He looked old, injured, and a shadow of his former SuperCoach-scoring self.</p>



<p>But Stew has completely flipped the script and now looks as fit as ever.</p>



<p>After scores of 104, 133, and 120, he’s averaging 119 and is priced at only $528k.</p>



<p>I can’t trust his body. But if you can, he could be the pick of the season. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>5. Ripe rookies </strong></h3>



<p>SuperCoach is all about timing.&nbsp;</p>



<p>And luck and skill.</p>



<p>But mainly timing.</p>



<p>It’s about knowing when to cull your rookies — knowing when they’ve just about maxed out in price.</p>



<p>Jack Carroll fits the bill.</p>



<p>Now he’s on the bye, you can comfortably bin the Saint after enjoying a measly $61k price rise from a 49-point average.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>6. Luke Parker the seagull?</strong></h3>



<p>I’m having Déjà vu.</p>



<p>Luke Parker is channeling his inner Jack Ziebell and boy oh boy, this could shape as an exciting pick.</p>



<p>Moving down to half back has netted scores of 137 and 161 from Parker, who is now formally in the coveted seagull role.</p>



<p>A role that saw Ziebell — JACK ZIEBELL — average 108 in the coveted.</p>



<p>No disrespect to JZ, but LP is a much, much better player and should have no issues with blasting that 108 average out of the water.</p>



<p>I’m sold. All aboard! </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>7. A successful midfield mid-pricer?</strong></h3>



<p>On his way to a 142, Finn O’Sullivan also staked his claim as one of the competition’s most damaging taggers.</p>



<p>He kept Zach Merrett to just ten touches.</p>



<p>TEN?!?!</p>



<p>It’s a good thing for FOS owners, because more tagging midfielders means more CBA’s.</p>
