Final Word Week 2 | NFL Supercoach Trades, Captains, PODs


<p>The NFL is back, and how good is it!? </p>



<p>As expected, <strong>Josh Allen </strong>and <strong>Lamar Jackson</strong> stole the show, putting on a Week 1 showstopper that may just end up being the best game we’ll see all season. </p>



<p>For those who took my advice and owned both, you’d be absolutely cheering. </p>



<p>Allen finished Week 1 as the top-scorer with 77 points, while Jackson finished right behind him with 58 points of his own. </p>

<p>It was also a great week for <strong>Derrick Henry</strong> owners, with “King Henry” showing that age is just a number, scoring two touchdowns and finishing the week as the top running back. </p>



<p>Unfortunately, I was not one of the shrewd coaches who began the season with Henry, but <strong>Bijan Robinson’s</strong> 42 eased the pain slightly… </p>



<p>Now that’s enough about last week, let’s get into the Week 2 trades.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Week 2 Trade Plans</strong></h3>



<p>Do. Not. Panic.&nbsp;</p>



<p>I cannot reiterate that enough. </p>



<p>You simply have to be patient in this game. </p>



<p>If you are thinking of trading out a gun… Just don’t (I’m looking at you <strong>Ja’Marr Chase</strong> owners). </p>



<p>It’s been one week. </p>



<p>These guys are proven guns. </p>



<p>They are expensive for a reason. </p>



<p>Please don’t trade them after one poor performance. </p>



<p>The worst thing you can do is trade out a gun in the early stages of the season. </p>



<p>If they come good, then you’ll end up wasting two trades because you’ll need to get them back in your team. </p>



<p>Just don’t do it. </p>

<p>This goes for Chase, <strong>Nico Collins</strong>, <strong>Jahmyr Gibbs</strong> and any other top-price player who had a down week. </p>



<p>They aren’t losing money yet, and they will turn it around!</p>



<p>Now that I’ve got that out of the way, let me tell you when you should trade after Week 1.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Injuries. </p>



<p>If you have <strong>George Kittle</strong> or <strong>Xavier Worthy</strong> then trade away. </p>



<p>If you own Kittle, I’d suggest a straight swap for <strong>Brock Bowers</strong> or <strong>Trey McBride</strong>. </p>



<p>These are the clear top Tight Ends in Supercoach, and I own both. </p>



<p>You can’t go wrong with either of them. </p>

<p>Worthy owners, I’d be looking at <strong>Hollywood Brown</strong>. </p>



<p>He had a massive 16 targets in Week 1, and he will continue to see a plethora of targets as long as Worthy is out. </p>



<p>You’ll also save a few million that you can bank and use to upgrade someone later on in the season. </p>



<p>Other than injuries, I find it really hard to find a reason to trade after Week 1.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Price changes haven’t kicked in yet, so I am a firm believer that you should give each player at least two weeks to really show where they’re at. </p>

<p>The rookie Titans Quarterback had a slow start to his career, but I did warn you. </p>



<p>He won’t be playing the Broncos&#8217; defence every week, and he will continue to improve as the season progresses. </p>



<p>A straight trade to JJ McCarthy may be tempting, but I’d be giving him another week at least. </p>



<p>You started with Ward for a reason, and you knew Week 1 would be tough. </p>



<p>You’ve made your bed, now you have to lay in it for another week. </p>

<p>I am in a similar boat with <strong>Tyreek Hil</strong>l. </p>



<p>Every part of me wants to trade him to <strong>Zay Flowers</strong>, but I am going to be patient and wait at least one more week. </p>



<p>It’s a long season and trades are at a premium. </p>



<p>Don’t go too hard too early and regret it later on. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Week 2 Captaincy Plans</strong></h3>



<p>This will be short and sweet.&nbsp;</p>



<p>I said it last week, and I’ll say it again. </p>



<p>If you own Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen then you must put the C on one of them. </p>



<p>Josh Allen takes on a Jets defence that gave up 34 points to a Steelers offense led by a geriatric Aaron Rodgers. </p>



<p>I expect Allen to shred the Jets’ secondary in what could be another shoot-out. </p>



<p>He’s my captain this week, but I’d understand if you wanted to stick with Lamar against an average Browns outfit. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Week 2 PODS</strong></h3>



<p><strong>Ricky Pearsall</strong> <strong>(WR) $11,350,000 </strong></p>



<p>The explosive 49ers Wide Receiver has a huge opportunity in the weeks moving forward. </p>



<p>George Kittle is injured, Jauan Jennings is banged up, and CMC can’t do it all. </p>



<p>It’s for that reason that Pearsall has emerged as Brock Purdy’s new best friend, starting the season with 108 yards and a solid 25 points. </p>



<p>He is someone I’ll be watching very closely in Week 2 as I expect him to again feature prominently. </p>



<p>He’s a great POD option with just 3.4% ownership. </p>

<p><strong>Javonte Williams (RB) $8,780,000</strong> </p>



<p>There were question marks around the Cowboys&#8217; backfield as we went into Week 1, but Williams made it clear that he is RB1. </p>



<p>He played 75% of snaps, rushing the ball 15 times for two touchdowns. </p>



<p>He won’t score two touchdowns every week, but he should also get a lot of opportunities to find the end zone in a Dallas side that may be a bit better than we first thought. </p>



<p>He now faces a Giants defence that gave up 220 rushing yards in Week 1… Yes please! </p>



<p>He’s owned by just 1.5% of coaches and could be the difference in your match-up this week. </p>

<p><strong>Justin Herbert (QB) $19,750,000</strong> </p>



<p>We heard all about how the Chargers were going to rush the ball more this season, but if Week 1 told us anything, this is still Herbert’s team. </p>



<p>He threw the ball 34 times for 318 yards and three touchdowns, torching the Chiefs in a huge Week 1 win. </p>



<p>It’s not just his stats that were impressive, but also how good he looked doing the damn thing. </p>



<p>He has weapons at his disposal, and if he plays to that standard every week, then the Chargers are going to be a problem. </p>



<p>I’ll preach all day about owning Allen and Jackson, but if you don’t want to go down that path, then Herbert may be the next best thing. </p>



<p>At just 1.1% ownership he is a proper POD.  </p>
