NFL Supercoach Team Reveal | Oscar’s squad + analysis


<p>Finally, the NFL is back, and I couldn’t be more excited.</p>



<p>As an Australian NFL fan, I can’t wait to ruin my sleep schedule with the criminally early Monday morning wake-ups.</p>



<p>After endless changes, I have come to what I think will be my Supercoach starting team entering Week 1 (it is very realistic, you might see one or two changes come the end of the week).</p>



<p>If you have read all my positional analysis, you already have a good idea of my thoughts on most of these players.</p>



<p>Further (spoiler alert), a lot of these players I have picked are highly owned and quite straightforward options that don’t need much explanation.</p>



<p>So, I won’t delve too deep into my reasoning behind each player.</p>



<p>But I still think it is good to show what decisions all my research, logical thinking, and gut feelings have led me to.</p>



<p>Let’s look at my overall approach I took to building my starting side:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Team strategy</strong></h3>



<p>Alright, I am going to be up front and own it, my team is pretty boring.</p>



<p>It is filled with highly owned players and very few PODs.</p>



<p>But I am blaming Supercoach for this.</p>



<p>With such a high salary cap and all rookies being at such low prices, we are left with so much money to pick the premium options at each position.</p>



<p>I think the salary cap has killed the value of the mid-rangers (as you will soon see from my team).</p>



<p>As why would I spend a decent amount of cash on a player that might break out but may also flop, when I can instead save a bunch of money on a rookie with the same risk, or just pay a little more for a certified gun.</p>



<p>So, the wait is over, these are the players I am going with to start the first-ever season of NFL Supercoach!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Quarterbacks (+ flex)</strong></h3>



<p>This is the one position (along with kicker) that I have genuinely not changed once since making my initial team months ago.</p>



<p>And yes, I will be picking a quarterback in my flex, just as everyone should.</p>



<p>Quarterback is undeniably the highest scoring position in the game, and you would be silly not to take the opportunity to pick an extra one for your side.</p>



<p>I have gone with two premiums that I will play every week, and a cheapie for my bench spot.</p>



<p><strong>Lamar Jackson ($30.01m)</strong></p>



<p>Jackson has proven himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.</p>



<p>His dual-threat ability is perfect for Supercoach.</p>



<p>Playing for one of the best teams in the NFL, lock him into your teams.</p>



<p>A great captaincy option every week.</p>

<p><strong>Josh Allen ($28.18m)</strong></p>



<p>Pretty much copy and paste from above.</p>



<p>Allen is an elite quarterback, playing for an elite team with a Supercoach-friendly playstyle.</p>



<p>Lock him in and look to captain week on week.</p>



<p>My pick to finish the season as QB1.</p>



<p><strong>J.J. McCarthy ($3.7m)</strong></p>



<p>At the end of the day, it is a two-horse race for this bench QB spot between McCarthy and number one overall pick <strong>Cam Ward.</strong></p>



<p>Although Ward may be the more talented out of the two, McCarthy finds himself in a much better situation at the Vikings.</p>



<p>A solid O-line, amazing offensive weapons,s and a head coach that made Sam Darnold look like an MVP candidate.</p>



<p>I think McCarthy will start faster than Ward and therefore generate better cash for my team.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Running backs</strong></h3>



<p>Here I have gone with the two premium options, three rookies, and the only mid-ranger in my whole team.</p>



<p><strong>Bijan Robinson ($21.43m)</strong></p>



<p>Bijan has been in my team since day one, and hopefully will be there until the season’s end.</p>



<p>His talent, combined with his heavy workload, has him solidified as my pick for RB1 this year.</p>



<p>Lock him into your team without hesitation.</p>



<p><strong>Christian McCaffrey ($18.37m)</strong></p>



<p>Without having to worry about his injury risk, as I can just trade him out, I couldn’t pass up on CMC.</p>



<p>The best running back in fantasy when healthy, priced as the 10<sup>th</sup> highest RB, is screaming value.</p>

<p><strong>Bucky Irving ($14.97m)</strong></p>



<p>&nbsp;At 12% owned, I guess you could say my mid-range pick is a bit of a POD.</p>



<p>I am buying into all of the hype, the talent, the increased workload, all of it.</p>



<p>I considered spending some extra cash here for the likes of <strong>Saquon </strong>or <strong>Gibbs, </strong>but I have been high on Bucky since last season, so lock him in.</p>



<p><strong>The Rookies</strong></p>



<p>Ashton<strong> Jeanty, </strong>Omarion<strong> Hampton, </strong>and TreVeyon<strong> Henderson </strong>are all locked into my team.</p>



<p>I think these are all no-brainer picks.</p>



<p>Almost guaranteed cash generation alongside genuine Supercoach scoring potential.</p>



<p>Lock them in.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Wide receivers</strong></h3>



<p>This position is definitely the one I have tinkered with the most.</p>



<p>Mainly because I can’t really decide between four premiums and four rookies, or five premiums and three rookies.</p>



<p>This is also contingent on my TE structure, which I will talk through later.</p>



<p>For now, I have gone with four rookies as I couldn’t commit to leaving any one of them out.</p>



<p><strong>The Rookies</strong></p>



<p>Tetairoa <strong>McMillan, </strong>Travis<strong> Hunter, </strong>Emeka <strong>Egbuka, </strong>and Matthew<strong> Golden </strong>all find themselves in my starting side.</p>



<p>The cash generation potential is too hard to pass up on, and I am more than confident in playing two of these guys each week based on matchups.</p>

<p><strong>Ja’Marr Chase ($23.58m)</strong></p>



<p>Another one who I have had in my team since day one.</p>



<p>All signs point towards a repeat WR1 season for Chase.</p>



<p>I could list a bunch of reasons why, but just lock him in.</p>



<p><strong>Nico Collins ($17.32m)</strong></p>



<p>I am slightly surprised by his ownership, being just 18%.</p>



<p>Collins is the main man on the Texans&#8217; offense, receiving plenty of targets, especially in the redzone.</p>



<p>Plenty of talent, plenty of opportunity, lock him in.</p>

<p><strong>Malik Nabers ($17.16m)</strong></p>



<p>Entering his second season after a stellar rookie season, I am locking Nabers into my team.</p>



<p>The main man on the Giants&#8217; offense, he should see plenty of targets once again.</p>



<p>If Russ can connect with him on a few deep balls, he could be looking at a top 3 WR finish.</p>



<p><strong>CeeDee Lamb ($16.6m)</strong></p>



<p>Alright, now this fourth premium option is the one I have changed about a million times.</p>



<p>For now, I have Lamb in my team.</p>



<p>There is no doubt he’s a great player; the question is whether Dak Prescott’s play can return to his best.</p>



<p>Either way, he should see a lot of targets and hopefully good production.</p>



<p>This pick could easily turn into <strong>Jefferson, Nacua, </strong>or<strong> London.</strong></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tight end</h2>



<p>As mentioned before, my strategy here is still in the air.</p>



<p>I have my favourite premium pick and rookie, but I am still unsure whether to go for a second rookie or a second premium.</p>



<p><strong>Trey McBride ($14.33m)</strong></p>



<p>He is my pick for TE1 and a lock in my team.</p>



<p>McBride has a dominant target share and can hopefully up his redzone opportunities.</p>



<p><strong>Brock Bowers ($14.26m)</strong></p>



<p>I expect the rookie phenomenon to compete with McBride for the TE1 spot.</p>



<p>I considered Loveland here, but I know I want Bowers in my team at some stage in the season, so might as well just start with him week one.</p>



<p>It also gives me two confident plays every week in a historically low-scoring position.</p>



<p><strong>Tyler Warren ($4.5m)</strong></p>



<p>I have chosen Warren over Loveland purely based on opportunity.</p>



<p>I think Daniel Jones under centre is a positive for Warren as well, who can hopefully see a few targets early into his rookie season.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kicker</h2>



<p>I am not going to spend much time talking about this position because I didn’t spend much time thinking about it myself.</p>



<p><strong>Tyler Loop ($3.7m)</strong></p>



<p>Rookie base price kicker for a top offensive team.</p>



<p>He should be 100% owned, and I am so confident I have him in as my starter.</p>



<p><strong>Ryan Coe ($3.6m)</strong></p>



<p>Won’t play, simply there as my vice-captain loop option each week.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Defence/Special Team</h2>



<p>Out of all the positions, I think fixture difficulty is most important here.</p>



<p><strong>Buffalo Bills ($9.21m)</strong></p>



<p>If I could afford it, I would probably pick the Denver Broncos here as I believe they are one of the best defences in the league and should produce some good Supercoach scores throughout the year.</p>



<p>However, I am more than confident in picking Buffalo.</p>



<p>They play in arguably the worst division in football and have plenty of easy matchups early in the season.</p>



<p>Apart from the Ravens week one, where I will bench the Buffalo defence.</p>



<p><strong>New England Patriots ($4.15m)</strong></p>



<p>I love this as a bench option.</p>



<p>Not only are they the second cheapest defence in the game, but I also believe the Patriots will be a lot more solid on this side of the ball this year.</p>



<p>I doubt I will pick them to play over Buffalo most weeks, apart from Week 1 where they have a good matchup against the Raiders.</p>
