Updated team Reveal: Supercoach winner Thommo Aitken drops squad


<p>Supercoach is a game of strategy, precision, and foresight, where every decision matters.</p>



<p>The key to success lies in understanding how to balance your salary cap, pick underpriced players with great value, and leverage matchups based on the fixture schedule (double game rounds or tasty looking match ups!).</p>



<p>But there&#8217;s more to it than just numbers, Supercoach rewards those who can think ahead and play the long game (usually).</p>



<p>This includes making the most of captain and vice-captaincy selections, carefully navigating through player availability, and taking advantage of the weekly looping options.</p>



<p>In addition to these core strategies, the unpredictable nature of form, injuries, weather conditions, and team changes add layers of complexity that can either make or break your season.</p>

<p>Changes will also be made due to the timing of the games and trying to stay more flexible as rounds progress (in the model of Andrew Langley), something I am trying to implement more into my own game this season.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Wicketkeepers</strong></h2>



<p><strong>Josh Philippe (Sixers) $132,600</strong></p>



<p>The keeper position is one that is a bit perplexing, I&#8217;ve settled on Josh Philippe as a stash for the round 3 double.</p>



<p>I don&#8217;t want to waste trades at WKP, so I&#8217;ll be riding the rollercoaster with the ups and downs.</p>



<p><strong>Jake Doran (Hurricanes) $39,500</strong></p>



<p>Doran is the best looping wicketkeeper in my opinion. Hobart only play the first game of the round once for the whole tournament (in round 7). He is also the lowest possible price.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Batters</strong></h2>



<p><strong>Matt Short (Strikers) $304,200</strong></p>



<p>With Maxwell injured it&#8217;s freed up plenty of cash to start Matt Short.</p>



<p>With the Strikers on the double in round 2 he&#8217;ll be a must-have, so I&#8217;ve gone early.</p>



<p><strong>Jamie Overton (Strikers) $207,700</strong></p>



<p>Overton has battled injury this year but was back bowling (for the most part) in recent short form cricket against the West Indies for England.</p>



<p>If he maintains a similar role this year for the Strikers compared to last year, point scoring opportunities should be plentiful as he can score in all three areas of the game.</p>



<p>A season average of 70 SC points last year and a lowest score of just 26 points makes for a very consistent SC game.</p>

<p><strong>Marcus Stoinis (Stars) $80,500</strong></p>



<p>Stoinis has entered my team after ignoring him in my initial side.</p>



<p>Injuries at the Stars have improved his role further, and recent form has been excellent.</p>



<p>At the price he&#8217;s too hard to pass up.</p>



<p><strong>Tom Curran (Stars) $152,00</strong></p>



<p>A former Sixer now turned Star with a very good BBL Supercoach role.</p>



<p>The Stars are crying out for a death bowler and Curran looks highly likely to fill this role, he’s priced attractively too.</p>



<p>He’s handy with the bat too and surely he improves on his batting form from last time out. He only scored 8 runs in four matches (three innings) last year and he is much more capable than that!</p>



<p>He also only took 4 wickets in four games. He should do better than that too.</p>



<p>Big SC scores are littered throughout his past with many games or rounds in the 100s, and even 200s, so he shapes as a very viable VC option in the opening round.</p>



<p><strong>Mack Harvey (Renegades) $58,500</strong></p>



<p>Will Sutherland was in my squad, but recent injury concerns have me worried about how big a role he&#8217;ll play.</p>



<p>He only bowled two overs in the recent practice match and batted down the order, so I&#8217;ve gone with the in-form Mack Harvey as an alternative.</p>



<p>If either of my Scorchers go well in the first game I&#8217;ll loop them and drop Harvey.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Bench</strong></h2>



<p><strong>Cooper Connolly (Scorchers) $118,700</strong></p>



<p>Connolly has leapt into relevance after being declared fit for the Scorchers.</p>



<p>With injuries to key players he&#8217;ll bat up the order and hopefully figures with the ball too.</p>



<p>We know his class, so hopefully it&#8217;s on show early for the Scorchers.</p>



<p><strong>Matt Renshaw (Heat) $68,800</strong></p>



<p>Renshaw starts cheap and is a nice little stash for the Heat&#8217;s round 3 double game week.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Bowlers</strong></h2>



<p><strong>Tom Rogers (Renegades) $117,500</strong></p>



<p>Rogers of the Renegade variety looks underpriced this year based on his previous performances for both the Hurricanes and the Renegades.</p>



<p>8 wickets in nine games is well down on his previous seasons where he practically averaged 1.5 wickets per game (23 wickets in 15 matches and 20 wickets in 13 matches).</p>



<p>He can land a good yorker and when on song can take bulk wickets and have a real day out as evidenced by the many times he has taken 3+ wickets over the last few seasons.</p>



<p>One flag is his form for Kent at the Twenty20 Cup where he only picked up 1 wicket in 6 outings.</p>



<p><strong>Hassan Khan (Renegades) $117,500</strong></p>



<p>The Pakistani has shot to prominence recently and starred in the practice match against the Stars with bat and ball.</p>



<p>He looms to have a great role and could be a sneaky little gun on the double.</p>



<p><strong>Adam Zampa (Renegades) $80,100</strong></p>



<p>You need to almost do a double take when you see the preferred spinning option for Australia international white ball cricket and his price.</p>



<p>He didn’t have his best season last year taking 6 wickets in eight matches after a massive World Cup campaign, but is in reasonable form lately taking 6 wickets in the recent T20 series against Pakistan.</p>

<p><strong>Jack Wildermuth</strong> <strong>(Heat) $58,500</strong></p>



<p>Wildermuth should benefit with Michael Neser&#8217;s injury, slotting into that all-rounder role for the Heat.</p>



<p>There&#8217;s some concern around job security, but provided he features he could have one of the better roles in the game.</p>



<p><strong>Hamish McKenzie (Stars) $69,400</strong></p>



<p>A new recruit for the Stars this season, whose job security is trending in the right direction after news that Usama Mir will not be here for the start of the season.</p>



<p>He showed some promise last season in limited opportunities with best figures of 2/12 off four overs ironically against the Stars. A cheap price only enhances his prospects!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Bench</strong></h2>



<p><strong>Andrew Tye (Scorchers) $140,800</strong></p>



<p>Tye sits in my side in preparation for the Scorchers round two double.</p>



<p>He also could go large in round one with a home game against the Stars.</p>



<p>A death bowler for a good side is usually a decent decision which leads to SC points.</p>



<p><strong>Jordan Buckingham (Strikers) $39,500</strong></p>



<p>He is currently dealing with an injury but lots of Supercoachers will be sending him well wishes hoping he firstly recovers and secondly gains selection in the Strikers XI.</p>



<p>Buckingham is basement price bowler with a round 2 double. He could be a great starting option.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Flex</strong></h2>



<p><strong>Beau Webster (Stars) $164,700</strong></p>



<p>Webster can be hot or cold as evidenced by his scores last year. It really is amazing to remind yourself of the Stars allrounder rollercoaster we have seen in tournaments past.</p>



<p>In a stretch of four rounds last BBL (single and double game rounds) we saw 4, 217, 0, 153. &nbsp;It all comes down to his role.</p>



<p>In my side for now and we will assess closer to the start of the tournament.</p>



<p>His form in other forms of cricket this year is very good (although this doesn’t always translate to BBL).</p>



<p>He is in my side for now and looks like an even better selection if Glenn Maxwell was to miss any time or not be a bowling option.</p>



<p>He bats at number three which is great, however, he more plays that anchor role and doesn’t always accumulate that strike-rate bonus.</p>



<p>Of course availability will be a watch as to whether or not he&#8217;s released from the Australian Test squad for BBL duties.</p>
