Clem's NRL Supercoach Captains: Round 13


<p>Round 12.</p>



<p>The one with the 3-point Captain.</p>



<p>Now, I do not take the title of Queen of the Dubious Captaincy Choices lightly. And boy did I live up to my name last Saturday.</p>



<p>Prince Nicho Hynes – 3 points.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The coordinated messages that came through on my phone from Spy and Timmy at around 7pm Saturday said it all.</p>



<p>“Oh dear Clem”</p>



<p>Stunning times.</p>



<p>And clearly all that manifesting I did from Thursday through to Saturday, when Timmy refused to reverse his Joey M trade, and I had to take one for the team and put all my energy into ensuring he didn’t ruin the Joey M point scoring frenzy for all of us owners by reversing the Timmy x Joey M curse, took it’s toll, and I forgot to manifest the Nicho ton.</p>



<p>But as SC Playbook Support Group Coordinator, it was my absolute duty to reverse the curse – you’re welcome.</p>



<p>And I hope all my fellow Nicho Captainers enjoyed the Support Group at the Community Hall last Monday morning. </p>

<p>For those who couldn’t attend, we had a rather nice lamentation circle, followed by copious amounts of whiskey, and a beautifully comforting performance from Mariah of <em>I’ll Be There</em>.</p>



<p>But let’s not dwell on the past and let’s look to the future, where we have Round 13, a bunch of teams on a bye, a bunch of players out for Origin, your top 13 scores counted only, and a rather lovely opportunity at a free VC loop.</p>



<p>Now the only time I’ve VC looped this year, I managed to dud myself of around 30 points because even though I’m commonly quoted as the mathematician of our generation, I did not account for a Danny Levi 18.&nbsp;</p>



<p>So let’s get the free loop rules of Round 13 straight, and you must remember to have a player who’s not playing (who’s not on your bench or who you can bring in off you bench), who won’t have already played and who’s team won’t have already played to put the Captaincy on – eg please don’t try to loop with Nicho Hynes…</p>



<p>Now with limited options this week, and that delightful free VC loop, let’s go straight to our Captains.</p>



<p>And they are of course playing in the last game of the Round…</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size"><strong>You Most Definitely Should Captain a Rooster</strong></h3>



<p>The team that’s on a tear. </p>



<p>The team that’s losing only a handful of players to Origin. </p>



<p>The crews all here, and if you don’t own at least one Rooster for Round 13, I want you to go and use a trade please and get in on the action. </p>

<p><strong>James Tedesco</strong></p>



<p>I called it a few weeks ago when I said that Teddy is looking as delicious as the crispiest bacon on that bacon and egg roll you smash on a late Sunday morning after making the cut for Creatures of Manly the night before. </p>



<p>Which started a rather vigorous Twitter debate on whether bacon in a bacon and egg roll should be crispy or soft and I’m firmly a crispy bacon girl. </p>



<p>Not burnt crisp, but with a nice bit of salty crunch to get that sensory overload of deliciousness…</p>



<p>Much like the sensory overload of deliciousness Teddy owners will get on Sunday arvo ESPECIALLY if you Captain him.</p>



<p>ONE HUNDRED- AND FIFTY-ONE-POINTS last week. Two tries. Three try assists. Four line-break assists.</p>



<p>A 3-round average of 106. Missing out on Origin selection AND playing the depleted Cowboys…</p>



<p>And honestly, I think I just talked myself into trading him in…</p>

<p><strong>Joseph Manu</strong></p>



<p>I am honestly going to go out on a limb here, and say, the Timmy x Joey M curse is most definitely broken. </p>



<p>It took approximately 72 hours, and I won’t go into detail of the things I had to do &#8211; but there was a lot of chanting, several crystals, and a 1 litre tub of superglue. </p>



<p>So, you may now quite confidently Captain the man this round vs the depleted Cowboys. </p>



<p>And may I also add that following my dealings with the superglue, he quite coincidentally, demonstrated some delightful glue-hands moments last week to score two tries.</p>



<p>A Round 12 score of 97. A 3-round average of 92. The third highest scorer in SuperCoach so far this year. </p>



<p>WHY do only 25% of teams own him? </p>



<p>I’m off to bye another tub of superglue. Do with that information what you will, and bring him in.</p>

<p><strong>Dom Young</strong></p>



<p>Unfortunately we can’t have it all, give and take and all that, and the take from the Joey Manu superglue experiment, was that Dom Young unfortunately was left a little out in the cold in the point-scoring bonanza vs the Raiders last week.</p>



<p>36 points. But with a 3-round average of 98, we’ll just forget about that and think about all the try scoring opportunities he’ll get with the mass exodus of Cowboys playing for the Maroons.&nbsp;</p>



<p>We could be looking at another 150 here friends…</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size"><strong>Your Vice Captains</strong></h3>



<p>With a free loop up your sleeve, if you feel like taking a bit of a fun risky play here, by all means go for it. </p>



<p>I LOVE a risky play. </p>



<p>But here’s three to consider:</p>

<p><strong>Dylan Brown</strong></p>



<p>You have to at least consider it. </p>



<p>The teams all back (leaving us poor Talagi owners a little bit wounded with his benching), and whilst Dylan hasn’t exactly been tonning up of late, his 3-round average of 77 is nothing to sniffle over. </p>



<p>And if you like such facts, he did score a 105 vs the Sharks last time he played them in round 2 of 2023. </p>



<p>Not my favourite VC by any means, but if you aren’t Captaining a Rooster because you’re taking some sort of ‘put it all on black’ super-risk, you may consider it.</p>

<p>Now here’s a VC if ever I saw one! </p>



<p>Last week watching that game vs the Dragons, was the one of the first times I have legit been scared of not owning a player this season. </p>



<p>And we all know that you HAVE to own the players you’re scared of not owning. </p>



<p>So, I’m bringing him in and putting the VC straight on him. </p>



<p>134 points including two tries and some sweet, sweet junk (is he the new junk King?), it was loop loop city baby, for all those lucky owners who also VC’d out there.</p>



<p>And while he’s playing centre this round and not out there on the wing of that potent right-edge attack, I say if you own Kiraz – put the VC on him and get ready to use your free loop.</p>

<p>Let’s just forget about the fact that he has a 3-round average of 57. </p>



<p>Let’s instead look back at his 3 tons over the season so far and the fact that he scored an 84 last week in the Dolphins defeat to the Warriors which included 2 tries. </p>



<p>And he’s playing the Raiders. The same Raiders who let in eight tries last week vs the Roosters.</p>



<p>So honestly, if you have Issako, you may as well take a punt that he’s going to get in on some of that try-scoring action too.</p>
