Seeing double: Two games for Scorchers, Strikers to deliver


<p>You get the feel that Supercoach BBL is about to really explode, with five teams on double game weeks in the next two rounds.</p>



<p>Most importantly, heavy-hitters Perth play back-to-back double game weeks, and boast a squad where you can make a case for almost every player in their XI.</p>



<p>The Scorchers are joined by the Adelaide Strikers on the round 6 double game week.</p>



<p>Further, these two teams play each other twice in the round 6 double.</p>



<p>There are two ways to look at it, firstly that it puts a bit of a question mark against the Strikers as they have the toughest match-up in the competition for both games, meaning we should proceed with a touch of caution.</p>



<p>Secondly, that you could be particularly bold, back the Strikers to produce in these two games and go against the way the crowd are expected to utilise their trades.</p>



<p>I personally believe the Scorchers are a class or two above the Strikers and could win both games comfortably, so with the double-double I’ll be investing heavily in them.</p>

<p><strong>Optus Stadium</strong></p>



<p>Perth Stadium has provided some life in the deck to advantage bowlers, with a first innings average total in recent years just 133 runs.</p>



<p>With the stellar Scorchers outfit playing home games here in recent years I do think this has dropped the average total a touch due to the class of their bowling unit.</p>



<p>Owners of Perth players will be hoping they bat first across their upcoming games as they have a tendency to restrict the opposition to some pretty low scores.</p>



<p>The bowling unit should thrive either way, but the batting contingent should benefit if beginning the game.</p>



<p><strong>Adelaide Oval</strong></p>



<p>A ground made for batters, with a tonne of runs historically scored at the venue.</p>



<p>In T20s in 2023 so far the average first innings total is 180 runs.</p>



<p>It is worth noting that total was just 156 last year, but again back up to 175 the year prior.</p>



<p>This season, it looks very flat and beneficial to batsmen.</p>

<p>Jamie Overton has landed one of the best roles in Supercoach, bowling four overs and batting at five for the Strikers.</p>



<p>He’ll be costly at over $200k for the double, but there should be some more money to be made from the English allrounder and he does look the clear pick of the team.</p>



<p>Chris Lynn found serious form last game, blasting an unbeaten 83 off 42 balls in a vintage display.</p>



<p>He’s low ownership and has plenty of money incoming so he looks a decent buy.</p>



<p>That being said, going up against this gun Scorchers attack is a worry.</p>



<p>It’s the same reason I haven’t included the in-form D’Arcy Short on my list as I think he’ll be found out by the quality of the bowling.</p>



<p>Matt Short could easily be number one on this list, and it seems mad going against him for the double, but at around $300k against the best bowling unit in the Big Bash it could pay dividends to avoid him.</p>



<p>He bowled just one over late last game, so if he’s not featuring regularly with the ball it takes plenty of appeal off his Supercoach credentials.</p>



<p>Most own already, so it shouldn’t be a worry and you’d be very happy he’s in your team, but I do think it’s a lot of money that could be utilised on gun Scorchers players if you don’t already own him.</p>



<p>In fact, he’s owned by 96.3% of the top 1% ranked overall Supercoaches.</p>



<p>If comparing to Scorchers, Overton is the only player I&#8217;d consider using one of my three trades on.</p>

<p>Seriously, you could flip that buy list around and it could work just as well, this side is elite!</p>



<p>Lots of decisions are based around price and likelihood of playing all four games across the double game week.</p>



<p>The exception may be my number one in Richardson who may earn a rest at some point, but with his class I think he scores well enough in three games to be worth the pick.</p>



<p>He’s been among the best players in Supercoach for many years and we get him at a $77k discount on his starting price.</p>

<p>AJ Tye is probably the most likely of the quicks to get all four games, bowls death, and is just $151k, brilliant.</p>



<p>Hardie has reached the magic 20+ score in all four games this season and has looked sensational in the process.</p>



<p>He’s bowling the occasional over which is a massive boost. He’s expensive, but looks worth the price tag on current form.</p>



<p>Inglis and Crawley could go either way, I’ve edged Inglis ahead on the pecking order mainly due to his dual positioning with WKP-BAT and potential for additional points in the field.</p>



<p>Both look like great pick ups in my eyes, with Crawley among the best players in world cricket and now a decent chunk of games in Australian conditions.</p>



<p>Jason Behrendorff is the most in-form bowler of all, but unfortunately it’s resulted in a price tag of $202k.</p>

<p>He’s a great buy, but when you can get players like Tye and Richo for significantly cheaper that looks the play to me.</p>



<p>If he’s low ownership leading into the round due to the price tag it’ll make him very tempting to pay up for.</p>



<p>The prospects of Lance Morris potentially sneaking into the extended Test squad has him further down the order for me, but again there’s no knock on anyone wanting him at a nice price too.</p>



<p>Ashton Agar is dual position, cheap and likely gets all four games and should score well.</p>



<p>He’s batting relatively low though at number seven and isn’t known for his wicket-taking ability in this side.</p>
