Final word: Strategy, skippers, trades, Round 23

Well and truly on the home stretch now and whether you are focussing on your head-to-head finals or aiming to get as high a finish as possibl,e or even just seeing the season out that hasn’t been your best, there is still plenty to play for.



Currently sitting in 6,391st position overall, it has not been my best season, but it certainly isn’t anywhere near my worst season of Supercoach. 



If you go into the Classic – My Team part of Supercoach, you will see the word FIELD which has a drop down arrow to the right of it. If you click on HISTORY it gives you a breakdown of your past seasons. If you’ve been a player for a number of years you will have a drop down arrow to the right of SEASON 2023 and then you can view your results from all seasons past that you have played Supercoach. For me I have been playing since 2016 and my results are as follows:

Obviously the 2019 season stands out in that, but I’m glad that over the last couple of years I have been able to readjust to the changes in the NRL and Supercoach game to get myself actually performing someone close to that Top 5,000 or inside it. 



A mate asked me on the weekend what do I think is a good season in Supercoach and the results above show that’s it all relative to your experience in the game and of course it takes a fair bit of luck and good timing, as well as successful predictions of who are the players to trade in at what times. 



I have played in a cash comp for the last five years and never achieved any success really, even in 2019 when I was flying overall. This year I finished in the top4 and get the double chance if I lose this week and the week off and straight into a prelim if I win. That’s sort’ve my focus now but I’ll always be an overall player I think and that’s reflected in me only having five trades left going into this week. I think if I was a genuine head-to-head player I would’ve definitely saved more trades for this last five weeks.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Absolute MUSTs for the run home</h2>



Latrell Mitchell – I&#8217;ve seen enough from one return game to say you are going to need to have Trellmit for the last five weeks. Sharks, Dragons, Knights, BYE, and Roosters to make up the Rabbitoh&#8217;s last five weeks. The BYE could be problematic in Round 26 for possible head-to-head grand-finals so if you can save a trade that might be the go. I can’t go without him. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;



Kalyn Ponga – KP is in supreme form and the great thing for him is his team the Newcastle Knights are humming along with him. He is almost fixture proof and with a soft run and the possibility of an unlikely finals spot, you have to have KP in either 5/8th or FLB.



Harry Grant – You just can’t not have him. Clearly the best in his position and almost the only HOK capable of scoring 85+ consistently.



Nathan Cleary – Panthers were in second gear last week vs the Sharks which is scary. Cleary and the Panthers know their game style so well and they truly believe in their systems.

Api Korisau – Under 3% owned but in great form in a struggling side. Everything revolves around Api and he has obviously signalled his intentions to coaching staff that he wants to play 80mins. Back-up hookers DeSilva and Simpkins were banished from the Top-17 last week and even though Simpkin is named 14 I could see him dropping out again this week.



Dallin Watene-Zelezniak – Around 6% owned and on the end of a lethal right hand side for the Warriors. CNK is probably the safer play but DWZ certainly holds some appeal for a Warriors side that is set to finish the regular season really well.
