Bandit's skippers: Round 12 captain's to target and avoid


<p>Round 11 was a tricky one for many coaches – some lower-than-normal scores across the board coupled with lots of people holding Clayton Oliver through his hamstring niggle. The talk from the Demons now is that he’ll miss again this week, but should be fit to play Collingwood on King’s Birthday.</p>



<p>Well done to those of you who VC’d James Sicily (172), who was simply dominant against the Saints. The Hawks were able to consistently get a good matchup for him and he did as he pleased on his way to the biggest score of the week.</p>

<p>Josh Dunkley (146) has been red hot in recent weeks for Brisbane and Tom Stewart (138) continues to show why he’s a guaranteed top six defender in 2023. Bontempelli, Daicos, Neale and Dawson were all solid with scores of 120+ as well.</p>



<p>Let’s look at the best captain options for the first bye round. Remember, players on their bye this week aren’t locked until the last round of the game, so loopholing a VC for the next month will be straightforward.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Christian Petracca</strong></h2>



<p>This is a huge game for both sides on Friday night and Petracca will need to produce his best to help the Demons get over the line. Suspect he’s going to be called upon a lot in the midfield, not as much up forward.</p>

<p>The Hawks will be up and about this week after a win over the Saints, but I think there are some very viable VC options for Port Adelaide, especially Butters. He put up a good score against Hawthorn last time they met and he’s in ripping form. Nice VC smoky.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Connor Rozee</strong></h2>



<p>Another Power midfielder who just continues to get it done this year. The Tigers put a bit of work into him last week and he still managed to ton up, which I think is a huge tick in his development and maturity. Rozee’s record against the Hawks isn’t great, but you can definitely roll him as VC into a safe captain pick.</p>

<p>The Bont just keeps getting it done in 2023 – one score under 107 for the year so far and he gets a great match up this week against a Geelong side which is battling to remain in touch with the top eight sides. Looks a safe bet.</p>

<p>The former Giant now Tiger comes up against his old side this week and he’ll need to do a lot of the heavy lifting again in the midfield for Richmond. Personally, I think there are better options this week, but if you want to do something different, he’s worth considering.</p>
