<p><strong>Analysing the top 20,000 teams after Round 12</strong></p>



<p>So Nathan Cleary and Tommy Turbo are human after all – with both posting season low scores in weeks where they looked to have dream match ups.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Thankfully I looped Nicho Hynes so I managed to successfully death ride two of my favourite Supercoach players. As a result I jumped 3,000 places to 3,050th and am now hoping the bye round can catapult me back into the top 1,000 – or at least closer.</p>



<p>This week’s article will be slightly different to normal. Whilst I will set out player ownership levels, I have then focussed on understanding how many players teams have available for selection this week.&nbsp;</p>



<p>For players focussed on overall ranking, this is arguably one of the two most important rounds of the season so understanding how many players you have relative to other teams is important.</p>



<p>The tables below set out the ownership of players in each position after round 12 – with players available for selection in Round 13 highlighted in bold.</p>

<p>The 24% of teams who own Clint Gutherson will be hoping he goes huge this week. Not much else doing at fullback other than dual position players.</p>

<p>I feel for the 23% of teams in the top 10,000 who own Blake Ferguson – talk about bad timing to get dropped. Thankfully I’m not one of them so I was quietly cheering!</p>

<p>With Spencer Leniu and Stefano Utoikamanu both back, suddenly 5 of the 6 most owned front-row forwards are playing in round 13. The same can’t be said for David Klemmer whose 8% of owners would be very disappointed by his 80<sup>th</sup> minute shoulder charge last week. Silly stuff.</p>

<p>Well done and thanks to both Jayden Brailey and Connor Watson for getting us to round 13 – both have been superb. Reed Mahoney’s owners will be hoping that the Maroons camp comes back injury free and Mahoney is free to play this weekend. It sounds like that will be the case. The rest of us want to see Mahoney play Origin!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Round 13 Player Numbers</strong></h2>



<p>The table below sets out the distribution of numbers of players available for selection in Round 13 by rank – prior to any trades this week.</p>



<p>As an example, I’ve included 2 special columns at the right for my own team ranked 3,050<sup>th</sup>.&nbsp;</p>



<p>In my case, I have 13 players available in round 13 pre-trades this week. 17% of teams ahead of me are in the same boat whereas 63% of teams have 12 or less players available – and almost 27% of teams ahead of me have 10 players or less available. 20% of teams have 14 or more players – but only 6% have 15 players and only 2% have 16 players.</p>



<p>In contrast, the 16,950 teams in the top 20,000 who are ranked behind me are even less well placed – with only 9% of those teams having 14 or more players. So provided I get my captaincy selection right and my players score okay, I should see a good ranking boost.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The final row in the table shows the average number of players available for selection by ranking zone. So, on average, the top 100 teams have 12.4 players available and the top 10,0000 teams have 11.3 – whereas the next 10,000 teams only have 10.4.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The chart below sets out the average number of players available for the top 1,000 teams, the next 1,000 teams, the next 1,000 teams again and so on. As you can see, teams near the lead are much more prepared for the bye – but as the table shows, there are still plenty of teams in poor shape. Hence why bye rounds provide the greatest opportunity for ranking moves than any other rounds.</p>
