SuperCoach classic match: Joey's Origin masterclass

<p>State of Origin Game 2 in 2005 will go down as one of the most memorable victories in New South Wales history.</p>



<p>Returning to NRL action just 10 days earlier from a lengthy
injury lay-off, halfback Andrew Johns was selected by coach Ricky Stuart
despite fitness concerns.</p>



<p>The rest has become Origin folklore, with the eighth Immortal orchestrating a 32-22 victory in Sydney with one of the greatest Origin performances of all-time.</p>

<p>So how would Joey have fared in SuperCoach terms that night?</p>



<p>Unsurprisingly, the answer is seriously well…</p>



<p>Joey kicked three from three conversions, had two
try-assists, two linebreaks and a 40/20 to his name.</p>



<p>All statistics for the clash were available except for runs
over 8m.</p>



<p>Of his nine runs, we deemed six to be over 8m (two points each), and three to be under 8m (one point each).</p>

<p>In total, he’d have amassed 107 points while keeping the
series alive for the Blues.</p>



<p>Aiding Joey’s masterclass was fullback Anthony Minichiello,
who also went substantially well in SuperCoach terms.</p>



<p>Mini crossed for two tries and had 11 tacklebreaks in his
stellar performance.</p>



<p>Of his 19 runs, we deemed 14 to be over 8m, and five to be
under 8m.</p>



<p>In total, he fell narrowly short of Joey with 104 points.</p>
