Timmy's Round 7 Captains


<p>It doesn’t take Einstein to know that nailing your captains each week goes a long way to achieving overall or head-to-head Supercoach glory.</p>



<p>While it’s been a relatively tough start to the season trying to nail skippers, we also haven’t really seen any popular captaincy options nail those big 130+ scores that lead to massive ranking swings.</p>



<p>This could all be about to change as sides start to feel the impact of growing injury tolls, attacking units start to find cohesion, and we get a better gauge of the strongest and weakest sides in the competition.</p>



<p>The lovely Clementine Cassidy is unavailable this week, so I’ll be stepping in for the analysis, and while it’s sure to be far less colourful, hopefully it steers you in the right direction of a strong captaincy pick.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size"><strong>CAPTAINS</strong></h3>



<h5 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Tom Trbojevic </strong></h5>



<p>All signs point to Tom Trbojevic for me with a dream match-up on the fast Gold Coast surface against the leaky Titans defence.</p>



<p>I feel like Turbo could be about to explode for the 140+ score owners have been waiting for.</p>



<p>The Titans have conceded on average the second most points of any team in the NRL this season.</p>



<p>Scott Drinkwater put 144 on them a few weeks ago, and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 112 points the week prior.</p>



<p>There are a few showers around for the Gold Coast on Saturday but nothing too substantial at this stage.</p>



<p>Regardless, I’d still back Turbo as the top scorer.</p>

<h5 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Nicho Hynes</strong></h5>



<p>After a mixed start to the year by his lofty standards, I like Nicho as a skipper play in a game that should see plenty of points.</p>



<p>Despite sitting in the top four, the Cowboys have conceded the second most points in the NRL this season.</p>



<p>In Clem’s words, our wet haired Prince has bounced back to Supercoach form in recent weeks with scores of 82 and 94.</p>



<p>The forecast is dry for Cronulla on Sunday which is promising, and I feel that first tonne for Nicho could arrive.</p>

<p><strong>Shaun Johnson</strong></p>



<p>Johnson gets the Dragons this week who have been up and down in form.</p>



<p>The Warriors are firing, largely due to the form of SJ.</p>



<p>Nearing full-strength, I can see the Warriors putting plenty of points on in this game and we know SJ will be at the forefront of the attack.</p>



<p>They have defended halfbacks relatively well in Supercoach conceding the 5<sup>th</sup> least points to them, but SJ is a different beast, as are this Warriors outfit.</p>



<p>A genuine option in POD skipper territory.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size"><strong>PROCEED WITH CAUTION</strong></h3>



<h5 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Kalyn Ponga</strong></h5>



<p>One week ago I’d have said Ponga v the Bulldogs is a near lock, but plenty has changed since then.</p>



<p>The Bulldogs have shown their grit with a very gutsy, low-scoring performance against premiership contenders Melbourne down south.</p>



<p>Perhaps they’re not the easybeats of yesteryear we were expecting? At least not for the time being.</p>



<p>They currently concede the second least Supercoach points to fullbacks in the competition.</p>



<p>While all that is somewhat of a deterrent, I’d be happy to look past it if not for Ponga’s hip-pointer injury sustained last week.</p>



<p>It puts concern over his fitness and major doubt as to whether or not he’ll goal-kick.</p>



<p>While still enticing, I’m happy to look elsewhere.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size">VICE-CAPTAINS</h3>



<h5 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Dylan Brown</strong></h5>



<p>Most of the popular captaincy picks play relatively late in the round, so it does give us a decent crack at a vice-captaincy play.</p>



<p>Brown hasn’t been overly impressive since Moses was injured, but he has taken control of this side and is seeing plenty of attacking opportunity.</p>



<p>The Dolphins are fairly decimated with injury, so an opportunity presents.</p>



<p>They face-off in Darwin where you’d imagine it’ll be stinking hot and humid, which should bring a tonne of fatigue into the game.</p>



<p>This should bring Brown’s running game right into the fixture.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size"><strong>THE OTHER VICE-CAPTAINS</strong></h3>



<p>The rest of the VC options really depend on your skipper.</p>



<p>Anyone captaining Hynes late should definitely be throwing your VC on Tom Trbojevic in case he goes nuts.</p>



<p>Turbo captainers who own Johnson have a great play in the Warriors halfback against the Dragons.</p>
