Bandit's skippers: Round 14 captain's to target and avoid


<p>A much easier week for coaches, with lots of popular premiums performing well and setting teams up for scores in excess of 2100, which is good going for a bye round with best 18 scoring&#8230;</p>



<p>Laird (156) and Dunkley (148) were the standouts, but you wouldn’t have been disappointed with having an armband on Liberatore (139), Sicily (136), Taranto (136) or Bontempelli (125).</p>



<p>You would have been disappointed had you rolled the dice on one of Merrett (105), Neale (102), English (99) or Dawson (95), who all had quieter weeks. English being on about 13 points at half time of the Bulldogs’ game was particularly disappointing for me.</p>



<p>But this week presents a new opportunity, particularly for teams who are well set up to field 18 players this week. Nailing a big captaincy score can give you the extra boost you need to really rise up the rankings.</p>

<p>The Power hard nut has barely put a foot wrong this year, having not dropped a score below 94 since Round 6. He’s put six tons together on the bounce and is every chance to produce a seventh against Geelong on Thursday night.</p>

<p>Fresh off the bye and Stewart should be able to pick up from where he left of pre-bye with a three-game average of 118. His record against Port Adelaide is really solid and I couldn’t talk you out of putting the VC on him this week.</p>

<p>There’s no question – Dunkley is the most in-form player in the competition right now. A five-game average of 139.8 is nearly ten points higher than the next best player in that period. Should get another solid score here against a battling Sydney outfit at the Gabba.</p>

<p>Just couldn’t quite put it all together against the Hawks last week. He found plenty of the ball, but just nine contested possessions and a few clangers didn’t help his cause. Should post a better score this week but I’d prefer Dunkley.</p>

<p>Brayshaw looks like he’s over the injury problems he had earlier in the season with a five-game average of 121. Gets a good matchup against GWS this week who he has a decent record against. Could be a left-field option? I think he’s a better option this week than Caleb Serong who is dealing with an ankle complaint.</p>

<p>Just continues to get it done for SuperCoach coaches everywhere in 2023, producing his eighth score of 120 or more against Port Adelaide. Gets a much softer match up this week against the Kangaroos who I don’t think have anyone capable of going with him.</p>

<p>Let’s be honest, English was dreadful last week against Port Adelaide. Lycett destroyed him in the ruck which was not what a lot of coaches were expecting, myself included. Here’s hoping he can bounce back, but going up against Todd Goldstein is a big ask.</p>
