Mid-range analysis: Value prospects to target in BBL12


<p>Let’s take a look at the best mid-rangers on offer for BBL|12 to kickstart our SuperCoach season.</p>



<p>Now firstly, we’ve defined a mid-ranger as anyone from $80k to $120k in starting price.</p>



<p>If you’re familiar with NRL SuperCoach, you’ll notice the price rises in this version of the game can be more extreme.</p>



<p>Unlike NRL, price rises start straight away, so nailing the right cheapies (see full article) and mid-rangers is critical to your starting team and the first few rounds to get your cash generation started.</p>



<p>Keep your eyes glued to this article as with some updates for injuries and squad selections, these names will move a lot.</p>

<ul><li>Tim David &#8211; $89.7k, BAT: Lost his DPP but good value for an Aussie rep. His role makes for inconsistent scoring, but if you get him in the right matches you will benefit greatly.</li><li>Caleb Jewell &#8211; $91.7k BAT: I have him starting the season at number 4 for the ‘Canes. Always been a talented player and has strung together some impressive performances in Marsh Cup this season.</li><li>Max Bryant &#8211; $95.5k BAT: One of the funnest and most frustrating players to own. Batted exceptionally at North Sydney Oval against NSW. A sign of things to come? Pending role he’s worth a look in for the round 3 DGW. If opening, jump on.</li><li>Joel Paris &#8211; $96.1k BWL: Showed promise before injury last season. Should make money and could be locked into the ‘Canes starting XI if injury free.</li><li>Jake Weatherald &#8211; $87.1k BAT: technically a fallen gun. If batting 3 in the Round 1 DGW, risky coaches might take a punt, and you could do a lot worse.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Matt Gilkes &#8211; $97.4k WKPT: One of last seasons’ best cheapies. Two DGW to start the season means he should be in most teams.</li><li>Marcus Stoinis &#8211; $83.4k BAT/BWL: Big time unders. If fit to bowl has the highest ceiling in the game.</li><li>Josh Inglis &#8211; $87k WKPT: Should be in most teams to start the season. Looked a certainty to open until the departure of Laurie Evans was confirmed, and now might bat at 4. Cheap enough to hold in the Scorchers Round 1 bye.</li><li>James Vince &#8211; $99.9k BAT: Not an ideal SuperCoach player with batting his only way to score, but was the leading run scorer during the English season and can go big. Monitor form and bring in when he’s in it.</li><li>Aaron Hardie &#8211; $99.6k BAT/BWL: If you like Dan Christian, choose Hardie instead. Should bat 6 and bowl the occasional over. Will be inconsistent but has a decent ceiling.</li><li>Ben Cutting &#8211; $86k BAT/BWL: Was rumoured to be opening the batting and if that does eventuate at the Thunder, he is worth a look in. Don’t buy into the DPP &#8211; he won’t be called on to bowl very often and those days look past him &#8211; but is a dangerous batsman still capable of clearing the boundary.</li></ul>

<p><em><strong>And some that are just a tick over $100k</strong></em></p>



<ul><li>Mitch Swepson &#8211; $107.4k BWL: Feels like value for a first choice spinner guaranteed his overs. Not in the greatest form but should at least make money.</li><li>Michael Neser &#8211; $107.9k BAT/BWL: Feels unders and one you could even stash in your bench for the first round to prep for the Heats DGW in round 3. Been on fire to start the summer.</li><li>Mujeeb Ur Rahman &#8211; $111.8k BWL: Started last season at over $200k and we didn’t bat an eye-lid. Definitely unders and potentially a savvy purchase for the season given the ‘Gades don’t have any bye rounds. Is here until ~round 8</li><li>Akeal Hosein- $105k BWL: Has starred in the T10 league. Not normally a noted wicket-taker, but shapes as a crucial cog in the ‘Gades much improved attack. Definately value for money, and can bat a bit.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Luke Wood &#8211; $105k BAT/BWL: Somehow has DPP meaning he’s not a bad round 1 play for the Stars DGW</li><li>Adam Zampa &#8211; $103.6k BWL: Big time unders. Just about set and forget. Unless the Stars capitulate again he should make money and be playable in SGW.</li><li>Rilee Rossouw &#8211; $105k BAT: Feels unders and is an improved player from the last time he was part of the competition. With back-to-back DGW, he will be popular and rightly should be.</li><li>Fazalhaq Farooqi &#8211; $105k BWL: perfect role and great value price. Take a punt for the back-to-back DGW. A player who could be set and forget.</li></ul>
