TopSport punting preview: Big Bash Round 4

Each round we'll be providing punting previews for the season, check out our Topsport fantasy BBL market plays for Round 4.

Punting Preview

Each week of the Big Bash season we’ll be dropping punting previews for the round ahead.

So far in 2021 with our NRL previews we’ve produced a return on investment (ROI) of 108% putting us well in the green across the entire season.

Last round we backed one of two legs across our pair of multis, but didn’t see a return, with Tom Curran’s mid-game injury not helping the cause. Currently we’ve produced a 74.3% ROI based on $10 per bet this BBL season.

PLAYER PERFORMANCE MARKETS! Topsport are offering Big Bash markets based on fantasy scoring systems, back your knowledge and give them a crack. Use the code ‘SCPLAYBOOK’ when signing up.

We’ll look into plenty of same-game multis in our plays, with TopSport offering the best odds on those markets across the board.

We’ll also look into ‘Player Performance markets’ which simulate fantasy scoring, as per Topsport website, the points system is:

‘Player performance is an accumulation of points from a players match performance. Points are official result and as per espncricinfo.com decision. Bets are void if a player is not in the starting 11, however if they are named and take the field, bets are deemed to have action providing the rain intervention rules do not apply. Ie if a player gets injured in one innings the bet has action providing the required overs are played.’

1 point per run scored with the bat

10 points per catch taken in the field

20 points per wicket taken with the ball

25 points per stumping carried out by the wicket keeper

30 points for a Caught and Bowled

PLAY ONEPlayer performance multi

  • Scorchers Tymal Mills over 20.5 points @$2
  • Strikers Dan Worrall over 20.5 points @$2.25

Multi = $4.50

Finding margins in these markets isn’t rocket science. Much like SuperCoach, it’s about finding players with certain roles in their sides, namely death bowlers.

Mills is an elite death bowler and we saw him star in his opening game of the season. Further, we are getting $2 for the overs market.

Worrall is also bowling at the death for the Strikers and has batted in his last three games in the BBL. If he can jag a wicket and a run or catch, he’ll hit his 20.5. Plus, we’re getting a very juicy $2.25 for the market.

PLAY TWOPlayer performance multi

  • Hurricanes D’Arcy Short over 40.5 points @$1.90
  • Strikers Peter Siddle over 20.5 @$2.30

Multi = $4.37

Like the above, Siddle is bowling death for the Strikers and is terrific odds at $2.30 to do so. While expensive, Short bowled all four overs last outing, and he’s finding some serious form with the willow.

While he’s never guaranteed to bowl, signs are good, and if he does roll the arm over for a few overs the 40.5 points looks very achievable.

*Player performance bet void if player benched/out of final XIs.
