Croker’s Call: Time to rise for SCPB league

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker reveals his NRL SuperCoach tactics for Round 24.

Croker's Call

The Stockmen showed some grit last weekend to rebound after our finals exit from the SC Playbook league.

We were able to muster up 1,273 points to rise into the top 9,000 SuperCoach teams overall.

It was a strong jump from outside the top 10,000 so hopefully we can maintain the spot, and rise further with a few weeks to play.

I was also able to play a rare contributing role to the rank rise of the SC Playbook league into second place overall.

The pressure’s on to play my part for the next few rounds as we look to grab top spot!

Unfortunately I’m out of trades as I had to burn both last week.

Initially I was just using one, but then Kodi Nikorima was a late out for the Warriors against the Broncos on Sunday so I was forced to make a move to ensure I had a full 17 players.

With options limited, I moved him on for Connor Watson who delivered on debut for the Stockmen with 95 points! Well done mate…

My captain James Tedesco went nuts, while other starring roles included Harry Grant and Dane Gagai.

Fortunately the cattle have returned for me this week so I’m locked and loaded with a full-strength squad.

My first moves of the week were to play Watson and Jayden Brailey in my team over the likes of Nicho Hynes, Jason Taumalolo and Tevita Pangai Jnr.

They didn’t exactly set the world alight in the opening game of the round, so I’m off to an underwhelming start, but there’s plenty of time to come good.

Having no trades up my sleeve is concerning to say the least though, let’s just hope we can all field a full side next week.

This week I’ll be playing it straight with my captaincy choices.

Tom Trbojevic is too hard to pass up against the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

He’ll be fresh from a week off and should do lots of damage as he edges towards what could be a remarkable Dally M Medal triumph in limited games.

My vice-captain will be Cody Walker who put a masterclass on the Roosters late last year.

The Roosters have been so gutsy this season despite a mounting injury toll, but this Rabbitohs outfit at near full-strength is fierce.

That’s it for this week, hopefully those of you out there have trades to play around with.

Good luck to everyone in Round 24!
