Captain's Challenge: Who to skipper in Round 24?

I’ll preface this article with a disclaimer that the entire article will be focused solely on overall players because H2H isn’t my forte, so I will leave that to our other experts within the SC Playbook crew.



What I will be examining today is whether you should take the C off Turbo and roll the dice on a couple of other players who look to have tantalising matchups.



Last week I named Tedesco (182), Ponga (42) and Doueihi (34) as my top three choices in that order.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;



I really hope most of you chose Tedesco because he was the clear number 1!



This week is quite a similar scenario, yet again, I only see three realistic options for the captaincy:

<ol type="1"><li>Tom Trbojevic – If he is named to play then he is the obvious choice. He scored 144 against the Bulldogs last time with relative ease.</li></ol>



Fair warning though, Des might choose to hook him 50-60 minutes into this game provided Manly are 30+ points up by that stage &#8211; which would leave Turbo teetering around that 100 mark, which is by no means a bad score but it is definitely not what captainers would have been looking for.



Realistically, anyone at the top of the leaderboard is going to take Tommy as the safe as sound bet to make sure they hold rank – however this leaves the door wide open for those who want to throw some sauce on it over the penultimate rounds.



2. Ryan Papenhuyzen – Despite Turbo’s ridiculous 135 season average, I think Paps could have absolutely matched this sort of average provided he had played the whole season while goal-kicking along the way.



Paps scored 100 last week effortlessly (without a try). Truly ominous signs for non-owners and he could cause some massive swings in the overall rankings over the last two weeks for those who don’t have the trades left to bring him (myself included).



3. Nathan Cleary – Yep, this guy must be on the list. Obvious concerns over re-injury but that’s just sport for you. If he gets injured, tough luck. Personally, if I owned Cleary, I would actually have him at the top of this list above Turbo this week.



Crazy, I know. I just feel the Panthers will absolutely obliterate the Tigers this week to make up for their loss to them earlier in the season without their State of Origin stars. Cleary for 150+, you heard it here first.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Honourable Mentions:</h2>



<ul><li>James Tedesco – God bless the man; he finally repaid the faith for owners last week.</li></ul>



Despite this tough matchup against the Bunnies, I think Teddy can still slap up a massive score this week, especially if Cook is a late withdrawal from the Bunnies team (as some early mail suggests).



Teddy loves to pepper the ruck all game and I can see him really testing some of those big South Sydney forwards late in the game. It wouldn’t surprise if he goes 120+ in a game like this where Souths come in as heavy favourites.



<ul><li>Cody Walker – Obviously this one is a VC. There’s not many great VC options this week because all the big guns play late in the round.</li></ul>



However, if you think that the Bunnies can produce another 60 point drubbing of the Roosters like they did late last season, Cody Walker scoring 140-150 odd might be enough to make you seriously think about looping and banking those points.
