Final Word: Rd 14, key trade + tactical advice

I’m starting to get a bit paranoid about my lack of trades, but I still find it really hard to hold them. This is not going to end well!&nbsp;



More than any other round this round you really need to stay alert for late changes and ins and outs with a lot of Origin players resting and some backing up.&nbsp;



It probably would pay off to keep your two trades alive to use right up until before the game of the player you intend to trade out/in.&nbsp;



This week I’m really looking closely at Jesse Ramien and CHN as really good Round 17 buys who I also believe could be solid run home keepers.

I’ll probably take my chances this week that David Fifita doesn’t go off, although I’ll be squirming watching him because he seemingly punches out 80+ Supercoach points in his sleep.&nbsp;



Cody Walker is also enticing this week and may well come into my calculations, although I will like him more if Latrell, Murray and Gagai all back up against a decimated and demoralised Knights team.&nbsp;

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">PODs &amp; Super PODS </h2>



After thirteen rounds here’s the players I’ve identified as PODs (Point of Difference players – less than 10% owned) and Super PODS (less than 2% owned) that should be on your radar.&nbsp;



I’ve listed them in ranking order of who I believe is the best to take the risk on:&nbsp;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">PODs (My top 5 ranked) </h2>



1. Corey Harawira-Naera – Three round average of 76.7 and has become a real attacking focal point and surprisingly a defensive workhorse for a Raiders side that is really struggling. 



2. Matt Moylan – I understand if seasoned Supercoaches think I’m insane. Noone can burn you and has burnt Supercoaches in the past quite like Matt Moylan. Historically he can easily punch out a single digit score, but the allure is in his last three scores of 55, 69 and 89.  Moylan has had an extended period of playing now without injury. They play the Panthers and then the Sharks draw opens right up. 



3. Api Koroisau – The path home in the HOK position is not totally clear with Harry Grant sharing minutes with Brandon Smith, Damien Cook yet to hit his straps and Brailey and Watson regressing a fair bit in a struggling Knights side. Remember how good Api was last year?    



4. Daniel Tupou – You’ll have to pay a premium and they have a tough few weeks draw wise. However he is a solid scorer in the CTW position and has a high ceiling. 



5. Kodi Nikorima – The Warriors play the Storm, so maybe wait a week on this one. The Warriors point scoring potential is really up there and their draw looks favourable. Getting most of the troops back will serve Niko well.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Super PODs (My top 5 ranked)</h2>



1. Shaun Johnson – SJ went around at half pace with his dodgy hamstring and still easily scored 71 last game against the Titans, albeit 28 of those were goal-kicks. If SJ can get some confidence in his hammy and starts to run he has plenty of motivation and is effectively playing for a new contract. I believe Moylan and SJ can take the Sharks into an 8th spot finish with a soft run home.  



2. Jesse Ramien – Averaging 67.2 and busting tackles and offloading at will. Ramien is a solid CTW play for the run home.  



3. Greg Marzhew – Job security is questionable but he certainly passed the eye test. He looks to have tackle busts in him and an offload game similar to Nofo.   



4. Herbie Farnworth – If this side holds up and Farnworth starts at fullback I like him a lot. He looks very good as a ball runner and is a solid goalkicker. He could be a really good Super POD for the run home.  



5. Matt Dufty – Chasing last week’s points? Most likely. People crying foul about the Dragons not re-signing Dufty clearly have short memories because he has had some absolute howlers this year and in year’s past. He is not a top shelf fullback in my opinion. However in Supercoach he can post big scores, but I can’t be on him.  



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CLOSE WATCH</h2>



New segment listing the players to keep a close watch on over the next month for their Supercoach prospects:



1. Ben Hunt/Corey Norman – St. George Dragons have a soft run and that could mean these two become more and more relevant.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">ROUND 14 MATCH-UPS </h2>



The Roosters get the Titans in a day game. The Titans defended reasonably well last week against the Storm and defence is definitely not in their DNA, so they might have a hangover from that effort. That points to big games from Tedesco, Sam Walker, Daniel Tupou and Joey Manu. &nbsp;



What has happened to the Newcastle Knights? I guess the easy answer is they have too many quality cattle out. No Ponga. No Pearce. Playing with very little heart. Souths have shown they are a flat track bully and could put a score on here particularly if Cam Murray and Damien Cook back up. Cody Walker, Dane Gagai and Alex Johnston are the players to watch Supercoach wise.&nbsp;



Eels v Tigers day game looks a favourable match up for an open high scoring Supercoach team. Gutherson, Sivo, Doueihi and Laurie may be the beneficiaries.&nbsp;



There’s not a lot of defence in either the Raiders or the Broncos which could mean a high scoring game also meaning SC points for Albert Kelly, Herbie Farnworth, CHN, Bailey Simmonsson.&nbsp;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CAPTAIN</h2>



Tedesco and Sam Walker would have to be serious considerations for the VC or even straight C. No doubt Cody Walker and Nicho Hynes will be two of the most popular captains this week. Those that believe the Eels can do a number on the Tigers may also like Clint Gutherson.
