Croker’s Call: Api hooked as season passes halfway

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker reveals his trades and tactics for Round 11.

Croker's Call

I was unable to back up my best score of the year in Round 11, coming back down to earth with a fairly underwhelming effort.

I managed 1,166 points which I thought was reasonable, but on further investigation I’d dropped a few thousand places to 25,343.

The signs are still promising though, but a few poor decisions including captain Api Koroisau didn’t do me any favours.

Luke Keary only scored 22, but as we claimed a win in the main game it was one I was more than happy to cop!

Shaun Johnson went huge with 119 points for my side and recent recruit Cam Munster scored 91 so that helped me along nicely.

The real slap across the chops was losing to my little mate Sammy Williams in the SC Playbook league.

He’s flying along in equal first place and I couldn’t be any less happy about it to be honest. I can only assume he’s getting some advice from a certain family member so I’m willing to declare it null and void…

Anyway, onto Round 11.

API KOROISAU to CAMERON SMITH

After a ripping season that was almost faultless for me Api leaves on a sour note. He flopped as captain last week and is now out for the match with the Gold Coast, oh well, a fine job done regardless.

In comes one of the best hooker’s rugby league has seen in Cam Smith. Smith is playing like the champion he is and his SuperCoach scoring looks to be matching this form.

Melbourne take on the battling Broncos at Suncorp this weekend, so Smith could find his way to plenty of conversions if the hosts don’t find any improvement.

XAVIER COATES to MITCH AUBUSSON

I’ve been informed of this so called ‘nuff’ strategy in recent weeks, so I considered this for Brisbane flyer Coates this round.

I then saw that Aubusson was exceptionally cheap despite starting for the Roosters on the edge. I was a little weak in my centres anyway so it gives me an extra man there and hopefully he can produce some cash for me while Angus Crichton is out of action.

CAPTAINS

It’s got to be James Tedesco against the Warriors. Teddy is producing one of the most memorable seasons rugby league has witnessed and with an average of over 100 it’s obviously translating to SuperCoach. Easy decision…

My newest recruit Cam Smith will be my vice-captain with the nice clash against Brisbane.

Good luck to everyone in Round 11!
