1. What do you enjoy about SuperCoach?

I like that it allows you to be immersed into all games. I try to watch all games when I’m able (aka when the missus lets me). But when there is a bottom of the table or wet weather game SuperCoach can keep your interest particularly if you or an opponent have a player in the game.

2. Who is your favourite SuperCoach player of all-time and why?

Corey Parker. Ran and tackled all day, kicked goals, automatic captain. There was no one who could top him. Would love to have seen Brad Clyde’s scores in his career.

3. What was your best SuperCoach moment of all-time?

Winning the 50k in 2018

4. And the worst moment?

After a few years dating my now wife, I was invited to her family’s cash comp. I was talking myself up saying I would steal their money etc. I then had my worst year and collected only $25. I have since recouped that money.

5. What was the best trade you’ve ever made?

I don’t have a best trade, but in my winning season getting in Fergo, Latrell and Holmes at the right times.

6. And the worst trade?

Not a worst trade, but I was adamant that Crichton would play and smash it last year. That was a bad call.

7. Is there any player on your ‘never again’ purchase list?

I don’t have a never again list. There are too many variables that affect how a team plays, player movements, coaching changes etc. Look at Milford this year. I think he has a decent year with Croft, a more controlling half allowing him to revert to focusing on what he does best, the young broncos pack with some more experience. It’s foolish writing players off….. except Shaun Lane.

8. Who’s the player you keep going back to that burns you every time?

Jarrod Croker. He generally ends up having a good season. I just never get on him at the right time and always jump off him at the wrong time.

9. Any decent SuperCoach advice you’ve picked up over time?

Best advice ever is to go cheap in the centre wing.

10. After a particularly satisfying head-to-head win over a mate, are you humble or do you rub it in?

100% rub it in. Get in when you can is my philosophy. I know they will give it to me when the shoe is on the other foot.

THE 2020 SEASON

11. Your first player picked and why?

Payne Haas. He averaged 12 points a game above the next best front-rower. He is a reliable captaincy option. He went 15 times over 70 in comparison to Cook’s ten, and he missed four games. Obviously Cook has a higher ceiling, but if you need that reliable weekly score… Haas is your man.

12. Your best smokey buy and why?

Josh Hodgson. He was coming back from an ACL injury early last year and I can’t recall a player at their best coming back immediately. Returning from his injury in Round 15 he averaged 67 points in comparison to Cook’s 71 for the end of the season. If he can stay close to that, the extra 200k is handy to use elsewhere. Sure, he relies on attacking stats, but the Raiders have a friendly draw and the Titans, Warriors and Dragons who they play over the first three weeks who have forward packs with injury issues. I think he can take advantage of that.

13. Who will be the biggest flop?

I won’t say a flop, but I feel that Cook and Tedesco could go through a regression and you would be better spending money elsewhere. Tedesco has a new half calling the shots down the right. I also don’t believe Keary is a true organising half, add to that Crichton is the current answer to their centre dilemma and his favoured left-hand side could be quite clunky.

I also feel that the Rabbits are going to struggle winning the middle of the ruck and that will affect Cook’s scores. Whilst Murray will still be an option on the edge, I don’t think that helps Cook.

Remember I did like Crichton last year too……

14. Who will be the top averaging player?

Tom Trbojevic.

15. Who will be the premiers?

Melbourne Storm…… Honestly, I don’t see it being anyone outside of the Roosters, Raiders or Storm IF all teams are healthy.
